The future of mining? - 11of10 - 03-02-2011 What about some sort of composite mining? You need, for instance, 3 ships: Two mine two halfs of ore, the third one is the integrator, or refinery, or whatever, that makes the final product which is sold for large cash on some far away stations? Now, add a catch: Raw ore is highly perishable, so you can't mine one part, than mine another part, and then integrate it. With small cargo holds, it could force people into cooperation;) The future of mining? - Oxslow - 03-02-2011 I have only read the first 10 pages of this and I have to go out now I will read the rest later. I have had some great time mining in not the normal places. With some really good RP with pirates. Sometimes I might be the only 1 in the system I normally run a few k away. Then cut my engines. I just think that is what should happen. (If somebody might rob you and you think you can see a opportunity to get away would you stand there? ) I also think the price of the mining ship should be 100 million, may be more. Or perhaps lower the cargo hold size. It should not pay for itself in a hour. Also something should be done about committing suicide miners instead of flying back I am not for getting rid of mining. A nerf I think is needed. How much I just don't know so 25% for now. Is there anyway to monitor how much ore is being sold? Can we use flhook or something? Then once a week the admins look at the results. If there is 3 times as much gold ore sold that week compared to the average of all ors nerf it. If copper is far below the average give it a boost. The future of mining? - Omicron - 03-02-2011 Mining is off, lolwuts still on. That's not solution, turn it back on. The future of mining? - Tanker - 03-02-2011 ' Wrote:Turn it back on, but add other mining spots that are just as profitable as Dublin/o7/t23, to spread everyone around and lower the ratio of new players to experienced players in the mining areas, and as such increase the level of integration between new players and experienced players. This. This is a very decent idea. One which I have thought about myself for a while. A few more mining spots in different systems. Along with a few different selling locations for each ore. This will ,Hopefully, spread out the player base a bit more. as well as increasing ore shipment traffic to more places. The future of mining? - Omicron - 03-02-2011 ' Wrote:Really? Point me to the massive swarm in Dublin or Tau 23. Oh wait, its not there... Imagine they are still there, silent-power-traders and ammounts of not speaking English osirises. It's just bit harder to notice. The future of mining? - tyro - 03-02-2011 even if here is no democracy, those who decide, want to know what others think. that's why we have this thread and the poll. so: turn on the mod, BUT: - reduce ore prices (mining is currently the only meaningful source of money. trade is not profitable in comparison), - increase the number of fields - increase the number of sale points - sale points should have a sense inRP. - increase the prices of certain goods in order to encourage people to trade, with all this, bear in mind inRP sense primarily, not just the amount of money per second. The future of mining? - Zeb Harley - 03-02-2011 It would be a pity to get rid of the mining-system, not only because of the work that went into it but also because it was nice to actually buy a commodity from a player to sell it back into the game. It was not only necessary for miners to have interaction with other players, but also for traders, who would only interact with NPC commodity-dealers if not for the lonely pirate once in a while or even the mining player to sell ore to the trader. The mining system is part of Disco now and disabling it would be quite a radical step. The future of mining? - SA_Scavenger - 03-02-2011 ' Wrote:And maybe they are actually flying around different systems now, and interacting with others, instead of just sitting in one system and grinding. There were many mining systems besides Dublin. This destroyed them all, in one foul swoop. Nerf Dublin, to the ground baby! Hell, why not destroy Dublin with a system wide Atomic Bomb? However, please do not destroy an entire RP system with many factions around it, for the actions of people inside ONE system. For Sirius's sake man. Have you no decency? The future of mining? - Pacific - 03-02-2011 Don't kill mining and make the good miner suffer . :$ |
