I find myself in a position to disturb both and have an assignment for you. I want the Vermont deployed immediately, or as soon as possible to Omicron Nu. We used to run patrols there often months ago, but with the Insurgency Campaign ramping up, had to quickly redeploy and muster forces to see to that. The system is of keen interest to the Navy and we would like to re-establish operations there and can think of no one better to initiate just that.

The Vermont's objectives are as follows:

• Establish an immediate Naval presence in system
  
• Track and monitor all traffic therein
  
• Initial reconnoiter of anything of interest
  
• Report back any findings or activity of interest
  

If you can report back in the affirmative to confirm acknowledgement of these orders, that would be appreciated. If you need any additional assets to join you please make your request to Command in your response.

The bulk of our Defiant Classes are currently tied up, or otherwise deployed to the frontlines of Vespucci. The Tacoma is a fine ship and has seen many battles since her commissioning. They should arrive to your locating within the days end and I trust that they will be put to good use, Captain.

I, along with the rest of the Admiralty, are looking forward to receiving further updates from you as situations develop in Nu. If you require any form of resupply in the coming days, we can arrange for an escorted Merchant Marine Heavy Transport to provide resupply as and if needed.

Thank you for approving my request, I am sure what crafts your sending me will be more that adequate for the job ahead. Sir, I have also completed the proposed patrol route for Omicron Nu and will attach it below for your review. The purpose of this path is to ensure Super Gate safety and continued operation. Would hate to see it destroyed and the Vermont and asset alike be stranded here. As more resources are allocated to us I can review and update the patrol route to extend further out and in time we can project our dominance over the system. I know this goal is very far out but I like to plan ahead.

Secondly there is an area that might be of interest to us though it has not been located as of yet. The Outworlder Vessel did state there is a Liberty Naval Wreck in the system. Eventually as we take control of the system I would like to take a team down and find its identification number so we may see what ship it is.

Lastly I also want to announce the Arrival of the LNS-Detroit, its captain and crew are exemplary and I am excited to have them along side us during our time here in Omicron Nu.

Since then, I've received communications from both Commanding Officers of the Defiance and Tacoma, reporting that they've moored at the Oregon Surveyor within Nu. I have advised them of your situational update and proposed patrol route around the Supergate, and they've acknowledged their assignments. Command of the attached forces to the Vermont will now fall solely to yourself as the ranking officer.

Attention Fleet,

Sirius News has confirmed increased pirate and other hostile activity converging towards Liberty's Borders. I am hereby standing up our Reserve Fleet and all assets active within Liberty to the defense of the Republic. All Commanding Officers and Squadron Pilots are tasked as followed:

• Defense against anticipated Capital Fleets and escorts where appropriate
  
• Coordinating and supporting the Liberty Police in interception of smuggling transports
  
• Merchant Marine to provide auxiliary support to Liberty Police and Naval units
  

Assets currently not deployed to Vespucci in the Retribution Task Force will now actively patrol Liberty and ensure the Laws of the Republic are upheld. At no point do I want to see any idling about within the Manhattan Defence Grid. Senior Officers, should you witness any Officer doing so, you are to redirect them on ad-hoc patrol routes.

Your primary task is to ensure the safety of Liberty, her interests and the citizens. All eyes will be upon us, along with the the rest of the Navy. I want nothing but your very best and the upmost professionalism. Any actions contrary to this, in line with the Fleet's Code of Conduct, will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. So remember who you are. Remember where you are. Remember what it is you joined the Navy for. Liberty finds herself in a time in a time of need and we will not let her down.

Good day, Admirals.

I come to you today with a request. As I'm sure you are aware, Savannah has been spending much of her time of late in Vespucci, a place which can only be described as a harsh and unforgiving battleground. As Rear Admiral Brown had a chance to observe with her recent inspection, the Savannah and her crew have adapted to this environment by taking the opportunity to lighten our vessel as much as we can as to improve her manoeuvrability. As Savannah is perhaps best described as being fitted for long range fire support and anti-snub and gunboat picket duty, we found it imperative that we be able to escape any larger threats as easily as we could. Furthermore, in larger engagements, we have found the additional manoeuvrability from the lighter hull to greatly assist in avoiding damage. The caveat is, of course, that any damage we *do* receive is perhaps more problematic. It is a fine line to toe. Nonetheless, Savannah's modifications have certainly helped to extend the time we spend on deployment before being required to return to Norfolk for repairs, and the crew have grown used to the additional force put upon their bodies in heightened manoeuvring speeds.

On our most recent repair and refit, Savannah was seen fit to be equipped with a cloaking device. Prior to our departure to our next deployment, an idea struck me which I felt was worth the time to run simulations. With a cloaking device and Savannah's heightened manoeuvrability, I found her able to confuse and heavily damage, if not outright destroy, some battleship-class vessels which lack the cruise disruption technology essential to stopping a charging cloak. To put it simply, it's a matter of appearing, laying down as much firepower as possible, and disappearing again while taking minimal return fire, only to do it again seconds later.

Such a tactic is, of course, incredibly risky, especially due to the lack of shielding involved in such manoeuvres, however it is equally incredibly promising, especially if done in conjunction with other more regular forces employing conventional tactics. Any opponent, cruise disruptor or not, would either be forced to engage the fast, light cruiser which can retreat at will, or to ignore it and suffer the devastating hit-and-run attacks ad infinitum. Should the cruiser be consistently disrupted of course, it can simply revert to standard siege cruiser doctrine.

It is at this point that I make my request. As already pointed out, Savannah's loadout is sub-optimal for going toe-to-toe with a cruiser, let alone anything heavier. I would request that I be granted the opportunity to take a standard Archer-class, perhaps one already battle damaged or otherwise superfluous, and take it to Juneau to be modified in a similar way to Savannah however in a less ad-hoc manner, improving the ratio of internal protection lost to speed gained. It is likely that the power core will also require additional shielding as the armament for this hypothetical cruiser would put a significant degree of strain on it. I would ask that five pulse cannons be fit in lieu of any traditional anti-snubcraft primary weapons, in addition to two "Impact" heavy fire support cannons, as well as the traditional Star Lance forward gun as seen on any other Siege Cruiser. Crucially, a cloaking device would also be required to be able to fade after delivering the devastating alpha strike this armament promises. The purpose of this vessel would be to punch as far above its weight as the Archer chassis can manage. While any who crew it may require special training to better withstand the G forces involved in heavy manoeuvring, or perhaps even just a few weeks to acclimate to the higher rotational forces involved, it is my belief that a heavily specialised vessel such as this could potentially serve to remove or harass enemy capital ships which would otherwise require deployment of a battlecruiser-class vessel or above, freeing up such vessels to deploy as line ships where they are needed most.

As previously mentioned, tests of these types of tactics against an Atlantis-class carrier in training simulators were promising, with just Savannah winning in certain situations outright in a one-on-one with a ship three times her size, and dealing crippling damage on almost all attempts. It is my firm belief that with a dedicated platform for this kind of tactic, as well as refinement of the tactic itself, this performance could indeed be even further increased. Furthermore, such a platform would be devastating in a fleet fire support scenario, able to strip battleship shields in seconds allowing more mortars and other heavy weaponry from our dreadnoughts to strike the hull, all the while being difficult to deliver returning fire on due to the heightened speed of such a vessel. I would request that I be allowed to test the viability of this prototype for a few weeks after its modification from the standard Archer hull. Should results be dissatisfactory, modifications will be completely reversible to turn it in to a standard archer, as seen across the Navy, for use within the 46th fleet.

Given the purpose of the vessel, I have taken the liberty of fittingly naming this Project: UPPERCUT, and have tentatively named the hypothetical prototype LNX (Due to it not being a mainline warship) Uppercut to match.

I sincerely hope you see the value in my proposal, and allow me to explore it further.

Lieutenant Olson,

Firstly, from me, a very well deserved and congratulations on your promotion to Lieutenant. You have put some hard work and then some in to the execution of your duties and to Liberty as of late, so such efforts have not gone un-noticed.

As for your request, I have read the report and even some video evidence of such tactics that you had uploaded the the net within Salt Lake Station's Archives. I have to say, Command and I are very impressed with the display that took place. As such, your request to start Project Uppercut is hereby APPROVED.

Given the nature of such a project, I am assigning you a Senior Officer that will provide oversight and relay to the rest of Command of the progress that is being made. You will hereby report directly to Rear Admiral Samantha Brown for all further requests, developments and anything pertaining to Uppercut. The Rear Admiral has been briefed and I expect she will contact you in due time to being the planning phase.

I am sending this communication in what I can only describe as rather overwhelming disappointment. If you are unaware as to what I may be referring to, I would like to remind you of events on 25/06/829, specifically within Manhattan's Orbit.

As such, you are hereby placed on temporary suspension of active duty and are to report to Command at Headquarters for a formal review and hearing. For this matter, you are facing charges of the following:

• Willful damage to the Fleet's reputation and status
  
• Willful failure to perform duty
  
• Behavior that detracts from the day-to-day workings of the Fleet
  

We will give you a brief scope and present given evidence that pertains to the above offences. You, in turn, will be granted time to explain your side of the story.
