Hellfire Legion Recruitment Center - Daniel Archer - 03-23-2011 23-03-818 Recruitement Office Daniel Archer grew up in Liberty, on Pittsburgh. As per usual, he spent his earlier life mining, with his father. It was a tough life, and he only had his father, as his mother had died in child birth. His father and him had spent many a nights not eating, and worked tirelessly. Then one day his father passed away, and he was left alone. In his dying breaths his father had passed onto him the wealth he had accumulated. It was enough for a camara, second hand, patched up and barely functioning. He used this to trade tirelessly, and unfortunately he did not know that the ship was flown by a notorious smuggler, and was on a K-o-S list. He began to establish himself as a miner, and mined the giant scrap field which surrounded Pittsburgh. One day Daniel was making his normal rounds in the field when a wing of naval vessels appeared on scanners, clearly on an intercept course with him. Daniel continued about his business, knowing that he had done nothing wrong. Then the ships opened fire, instantly dropping his shields. Daniel was then struck by a Super Nova Antimatter Cannon shot and his hull crumpled under the antimatter. An airtight cylinder of metal immediately surrounded his pilot's chair as the ship depressurized and he was thrown into space. The Navy vessels were heard 'Tango Down.' as the flew away. Daniel was knocked unconscious, mostly due to the lack of proper gel padding in the escape pod, but also partially to shock. Daniel was unconscious for what would be days, he had suffered a mild concussion. Fortunately for him (and consequently, unfortunately for those Naval officers) a passing Junker found him. The Junker took him to Rochester, to an infirmary in fact, instead of just selling him off to slavers. It took Daniel a full week to come to consciousness and even then, the anger inside him was welling. After he got released from the infirmary, and had payed all his expenses, he accessed his neural-net account, and withdrew all his money onto his credit chit. Daniel purchased (and had delivered) a Sabre, borderworlds fighter. On this he had guns installed, and had it worked over extensively. Using virtually all of the money he had made through his small time mining operation. He immediately set off to the Pittsburgh scrap fields, and found the area where he was shot down. He set his ship to minimum settings, and hid in a piece of a wrecked Cruiser. In an hour or so he saw the patrol that shot him down, and waited until they passed. Just as they passed he kicked his ship to life, and gunned down one of the two Guardians. In a flash of dazzling light the Naval fighter went up in flames, imploding, as bolts of energy flew from the guns, which were firing due to crippled systems. The next fighter began to fly a path straight, to avoid fire, Daniel quickly changed his target to the single Upholder present. He opened up as the bomber pilot tried to pull a 180 degree turn. As he did, Daniel opened up, dropping his shields, the bomber pilots responded by thrustering, and Daniel moved from the line of fire soon to be experienced, all while dropping a single nuclear mine. The bomber hit the mine and his ship spun out of control, as the mine had crippled his engines. Then Daniel's ship was rocked as the lone Guardian began a strafing run, nearly dropping his shields. Daniel countered his maneuver by hitting the ship with a cruise disruptor and taking it out of it's state of drifting, and he got behind it. He watched as the Bomber finally impacted with a large piece of scrap and crumpled, then imploded. Daniel began firing, but the pilot maneuvered out of the line of fire quickly, but barely. Then it was Daniel turns to dodge, and dodge he did, barely avoiding the shots of the magma hammers as they blew past his cockpit. Daniel saw opportunity, and quickly maneuvered into the remnants of a Dreadnought, moving his ship through the wrecked decks, barely making it through. He could see the Naval ship on the outside, looking in trying to find him. Daniel went past an opening and shot out a nuke, it maneuvered carefully and impacted with the fighter, it's shields were down. It was at that moment, Daniel blew a new hold in the wreckage, opening up a place to fly out of, and when he did, the front of his ship was less then a meter from the Naval ship. Daniel could see the fear in the pilots eyes, and he felt nothing as he loosed his mini-razor on the ship. Penetrating through the front of the ship all the way to the rear, the pilot was killed instantly. Daniel tractored the pods of the other officers and set a course for Rochester. He arrived on base after some time, he took a long route to avoid Naval patrols, and made it back safely. He sold off the soldiers, and made some nice money. Daniel continued to harass the Navy in that spot, he did so for a good time, downing even the top pilots that patrolled there. Eventually, the navy wised up, and took actual threatening action against him. One day he was hiding in a spot near to his original place of destruction, when a patrol of fighters entered sight. 'Perfect, just on time.' Daniel said to himself he kicked his engines to life. It was then that things went downhill fast. Daniel began to fire, the pilots reacted quickly, like they had known he was there. They merely avoided fire, and it was then he realized.... It was a trap. He looked at his radar and saw 3 large ships on a direct intercept course, too close to escape from. He looked and saw them, a Liberty Siege Cruiser escorted by a pair of gunboats, not to mention a dozen snub craft. 'Surrender now, we will only ask once.' Said a voice over the communications relay to Daniel. Daniel spat on the speakers in a sign of ultimate defiance and he opened up on the cruiser, doing no damage at all. Daniel's ship was instantly disabled, and torn to pieces, for the second time in his life he was forced to eject. His escape pod was tractored in and he was taken to the brig, in the roughest manner the guards could manage. The ship was on it's way, and Daniel could hear the hum of the engines, they were nearing the edge of the field, when a report came over the loudspeaker. 'We have hostile contacts on scanners, Hellfire legion troops!' the voice squawked. The Cruiser was shaken violently as antimatter impacted with the hull of the ship. Then more sirens went off. And eventually there was the stomping of boots along the floor as troops swarmed the hallways. Soldiers stormed his cell, bagged him, and carried him off ship. Daniel sat, as his interregators began his interrogation. What is your name? Daniel Archer. How old are you? 19 years old. Describe briefly your build and combat skills I can hold my own, but I certainly need training and experience. What are your reasons for joining us? Not long ago, I was introduced to your cause by a girl named Alice, you might know her. At the time, I was to scared to make such a big decision. But now fear is long-overdue. How would you joining the Hellfire Legion benefit us? I could spend all day talking about my skills and what not but, bottom line, it would be meaningless. Best way to prove myself is by going out there with you. ***OOC PART OF APPLICATION*** Have you ever been sanctioned before? No. Do you have Skype? Yes, but I'd rather not make it public. I can send it by PM, even if some of you already have it. ***END OOC PART OF APPLICATION*** Hellfire Legion Recruitment Center - Echo 7-7 - 03-25-2011 What is your name? Dane Kinnaird. How old are you? 27 Sirius standardised years. Write a brief description about your build and combat skills. I assume you're not that interested in my body here. Though if you want to know, I fit into my own cockpit with plenty of room to spare, and I'm quite fit. My height is 5'10". My combat skills are primarily in the realm of flying fighter craft. Unfortunately, I have little real experience in flying bomber craft, but I have sound knowledge of the theory behind it. In terms of larger vessels, I was a gunner on board a Hacker gunboat for a short while, and I piloted the ship when the captain was off-duty. Currently, I am working on improving my electronic warfare skills - nothing is sweeter than seeing an opponent's ship lose power and begin to drift while they are locked out of their own controls. The foundations of my skills here come from none other than the Lane Hackers. At the moment, my personal ship is a Bayonet, which I bought from the Hackers discount after some years of working with them and gaining their trust. What are your reasons for joining us? Well, there's only so much of the past eight years I can squeeze into this document. They key turning point in my career; nay, my life, was due to an incident while I was a cadet at West Point Academy. As you probably know, towards the end of their tenure at West Point, cadets are given their own ship and sent out into the Badlands and told to go beat up some Rogue grunts. Well, the day came when it was time for our "greenie run". I, with a dozen other pilots cruised out into the Bad's, planning on getting a few easy kills and returning home triumphant. We were divided up into three squadrons; two of four Defenders and one of five Defenders. They were Delta, Echo, and Foxtrot respectively, and each of us was assigned a number. I was Echo Seven. Usually, the Navy likes nice even numbers for their rosters, but they made an exception with our group, since we had one special guy with us, who just happened to be the nephew of a current Fleet Admiral. Everyone had heard the talk; some day he too would be the captain of a Navy capital ship like his predecessors. I just hated him, since he was so darn arrogant. He was in the squadron of five, just to be sure. The academy instructors would hate to lose such a 'promising' pilot. Anyway, we cruised out there, and things were quiet. Just a bit too quiet. My squadron and I, we were starting to get that awful feeling where you know something bad is waiting to happen. It turned out that our instincts were right. An hour in, we received a comms report that Foxtrot had picked up a bunch of signals on scanners, and were moving to investigate. Minutes passed in silence as we waited, preparing to change course if necessary. Then we heard that Foxtrot had encountered a group of smugglers, loaded up with illegal drugs and headed for Manhattan. Eager for a slice of the kill, we changed to an intercept course. Then, death struck my squadron. Out of the asteroids came a pair of Rogue ships of a class heavier than we'd been expecting to encounter, lead by a single Outcast ship. Johnny in Echo Six was vaporised before any of us had time to react. Knowing that we were outclassed, Echo Five, our squadron leader, called in for backup. The reply we got made my blood run cold. Delta squadron was tasked to assist Foxtrot with the Smugglers, they said. We were on our own. Fuelled by adrenaline and terror, we flew like we'd never flown before. Our combined fire crashed one of the Rogue's shields, and a lucky missile shot from Echo Eight crisped the pilot. But Marco's laughter was the last thing we heard as the Outcast shredded his Defender. Desperately, we tried every frequency available, but we received no response from West Point. We were running low on Batteries, and we had little time until we were overwhelmed. Echo Five and I thought we were goners for sure, until our salvation arrived. Three Defenders from Delta squadron, having heard our desperate pleas for help, broke ranks and flew to assist us, barely in time. They managed to cripple the other Rogue, and drove off the Outcast, but not before Echo Five's shields collapsed. The pirates' parting gift was a cluster of mines which punched holes in his hull. Determined not to lose another friend, Delta Two and I performed an emergency EVA to pull Five from the wreckage of his burning defender. We had just got him clear when a micro-asteroid punctured my suit and shattered my right hip. I was lucky to not have been thrown clear of the ship. Thankfully, my tether held, and I managed to get back inside my own fighter. When we returned to West Point, our anger fell on deaf ears. The instructors were all celebrating the 'hero' from Foxtrot that took down the big bad smuggler. I had no doubt that they had ordered Delta to ensure Fox-One's safety. If he had been killed, there would have been reprimands; they didn't give a flying'¦ rat's behind if some unknown kids got killed. All of this began to reveal to me convoluted hierarchy of the Liberty Navy which was full of deceit and lies in order to keep the current head families in power. After some weeks in sick bay, and one artificial hip later, I quit the Navy. I never stayed anywhere too long. The Freeports, run by the Zoners, became familiar places to me. As the years passed, I became more and more bitter about the hypocrisies of the Navy's hierarchy; hatred towards those who send green recruits and fools to their deaths simply to maintain their own status quo. I lived my life from moment to moment, not caring much about the future but how I would survive comfortably from one moment to the next. For a while, I flew with a pack of Rogues, leeching off unguarded convoys to survive, but my personal aspirations increased. I joined with a team of Hackers, and that certainly brought some higher return. The older guys were generous enough to teach me a few tricks about disrupting trade lanes, and the locations of some key jump holes. However, several months ago, the group split when the boss was vaporised by a cruiser patrol in the Cortez system, and we all went our separate ways. I've been doing independent contracts and solo work since then to survive. Now, I've had enough. It's time for payback. Time for some real justice. How would you joining the Hellfire Legion benefit us? I would be another man, another ship to fight the good fight. I know what's necessary. We have to do this if we are to save Liberty from itself, and I would hope to be a valuable addition to your fleet. Not to mention, it's a personal thing. If I meet that guy again, I'll kill him with my bare hands. ***OOC PART OF APPLICATION*** Have you ever been sanctioned before? No. Do you have Skype? Used to have a Sabre too - back when I was in the Legion a few years back. Sadly it was destroyed whilst helping a friend with some Bounty Hunters. Been stuck on a Freeport for the time between, earned enough credits to get passage to Liberty. Now I have a Rhino freighter, but I'm looking to get my Sabre back. As for my combat skills, as a member of the Legion before, I engaged and eliminated many Liberty fighters and gunboats in my time. What are your reasons for joining us? My mother was a rebel in Kusari space. After meeting my father, a simple Bretonian trader, they decided to start a new, honest life in Liberty. For years, it seemed that Kusari had given up the hunt for my mother, but in the off-chance that my mother was in Liberty, some Bounty Hunters asked around for us on Manhattan. Liberty forced my father to join the Navy and sent him on what was essientially a suicide mission to get him out of the way and killed without too many questions being asked. With my father's death and on hearing the news that Liberty was no longer safe for her; my mother left me behind with my uncle and tried to run to Kusari space. She was killed by the Liberty Police force seconds from jumping out of Liberty space. This is why I must fight that traitorous scum called "Liberty". It is where I have grown up. It is my home. And I will watch it burn. How would you joining the Hellfire Legion benefit us? I'll admit I haven't been in a fighter ship for years, so I'll be a bit rusty to begin with, but I am more than committed to the cause and know the sacrifice that may need to be done to obtain our objectives. Also, I have had experience from being in the Legion before, though I have tried to contact old friends from the Legion with little luck and the Hackers don't trust me yet. ***OOC PART OF APPLICATION*** Have you ever been sanctioned before? As I said up above a work well and prefer flying in groups. it would give my brain a chance to learn more than it has as my life has been meaningless when I accomplish lets say tasks no matter the reward it is always short lasting and menial to working for a cause. After seeing constant oppressions of the law and every one turning a blind eye to it... well theres only so much on can take. If You look deep enough into any gonvernment there is always ignorance and i intend to put a hand in purging that ignorance once and for all.And the glory of a close freind of mine of who was Killed after suffering of 80% burns to his face and body after his transport was destroyed by Libertonian naval force's after they found a what they said was illegal goods on his freighter after I tractor'd the body onto my ship i found that he was still breathing I then asked him "what Next" his frail and bunrt hand grabbed my face and he looked at me as whisperd "Kill Me" It still haunts my human brain to this day... THat's the main question humanity has been asking itself about everything. But to answer your question, Common goals. The Liberty Navy is corrupt, and needs to be replaced. I don't have revenge issues, family losses (since i don't have any), or personal vendettas. Regarding the point about my lack of family.. Without a family, one cannot have a family name is it not? And since you asked about my history, i escaped from Sugarland after being imprisoned for artifact smuggling. I found this interesting since i never even touched one. Therefor i came to the conclusion that the Navy is corrupt. Alone, i doubt i can do much. I escaped on a ship that was being piloted by an undercover lane hacker who was apparently buying slaves. He then let us free on Ames Research Station. Also, did i not answer the question honestly? You have my name, my age, my build, my combat skills, my reason for joining and why this would be beneficial to all of us. Nestor. |
