Because Firefly fans, like oh so many others, are rabid when it comes to their show. Best thing to do is take the Dude's approach, say "well that's your opinion man" and move on.

Keeping the Firefly name isn't ruining any sanctity - it's paying homage, which is quite the opposite. Though the name for this model isn't set in stone because I haven't got around to it just yet...

If I read the earlier posts of Croft in this thread correctly, both the X-Shuttle and the Firefly have their new names, Tranquility and Serenity respectively, proposed. I'm quite fine with those names, by the way.
