Nope... Not seeing it.

The dots for the systems are all the same size, which fails to give the map the appearance of a Z axis.

Now just do the same thing but in 4D (including time and show the systems orbiting or whatever)

Is this actually using the relative positions of systems based on the starspheres? If you compare the backgrounds of the vanilla systems you'll see the original devs actually put a lot of thought into the layout of Sirius. It's something that has always fascinated me.

Evidently it isn't done that way - the Starspheres indicate a roughly flat layout. OP has an interesting concept, though.
