About the tech nerf I don't care too much, I'm fine with Civilian ship-line and perhaps Bretonia one (Bretonia one seems a good way to RP with BMM the construction of the ships) As for the Royalist part, I think that the current situation of Bretoania opens a nice possibility to RP a small move forward looking for new ways to get funds; Looking external source of income, new kind of services... Thus I'm agree that it not needs necessary to be the 100% royal support like Bowex for example. A never ending projects can be, actually, an amazing tool for RP, didn't think about it. As for the Gaians, I'm more than fine to have them against us. It's more than understandable. Note also that the if ever see the light you will not only have to fight against our transports and escorts but also against our fake/green propaganda! Also, I'll try to develop new services in RP, not only terraforming new planets, but fine-tuning the air condition of high populated areas, and so on... So I'm sure Gaians will have a lot of work to do to counter that. Some of the projects will be a cleaning image too. Thanks to all for the replies!! RE: Planetform - Tibbles - 12-15-2013 Planetform Inc.
Corporation ID: Planetform
Corporation IFF: Planetform Under the terms of a Bretonian charter, a cadre of Cambridge researchers and California consultants were given a challenge: Transform a planet from a cold, desert locale with a limited carbon dioxide atmosphere into an agricultural planet-within 400 years. Planetform was born. The company grew very slowly, dependent on the largess of the Bretonian Government for most of it's money. Planetform had few enemies until 67 years ago, when the radical eco-terrorist group the Gaians formed within the research environments of Edinburgh's Gaia Planet and Cambridge University. The Groups amateurish efforts soon matured into a serious threat to Planetform operations throughout Bretonian space. Planetform began manufacturing Xenobiotic Filters in 815 A.S., which are essential in creating stations. Due to the recent war with Kusari, and the current war with Gallia, Planetform has taken severe economical hits with the loss of Planet Harris and Planet Ayr, as well as Perth Station leaving Planetform much weaker than it used to be. Early in 819 A.S., Stephan Littlebury took over control of the company and is now attempting to rebuild the corporate strength that Planetform once held. Our goals
Current Goals:
Our main objective is to keep Planetform as the best choice when it comes to develop new habitable worlds, improve the conditions of those who are already inhabited and provide a wide range of service to improve planet's climates and weather. Planetfomr Inc. isn't looking only for a high quality projects but also improving our lives in planets, looking for new possibilities in other systems thus cooperating with several house to chart and analyse new planets and stellar bodies. Future goals: Additionally we are always looking to do our work more sustainable. Meanwhile we have been labelled as a pollutant company by a well known eco-terrorist party we are working every day to develop a more green future for or children. One of thus projects is to develop a full planet scale seaweed farm to grow what it will be the future bio-fuel that will bring our vessels beyond new worlds and stars. With the sparseness of arable planets outside of the core systems claimed by Liberty, Planetform, Inc. has been conducting a considerable amount of business in Bretonia and elsewhere. However, its operations have recently come under attack by Gaian eco-terrorists, and by necessity security guidelines have grown more stringent. Planet California Minor Sector 6E, California system. Liberty. In 741 A.S., Planetform devised a method to channel the planet's enormous subterranean stores of geothermic energy, releasing greenhouse gases and introducing alien organisms into the atmosphere to speed up the terraforming process. Planetform estimates that the terraforming process will likely be completed and the planet will be open for colonization around the year 826 A.S. Despite the harsh planetary conditions, the increasing availability of jobs on the planet has attracted large numbers of manual laborers, particularly from the Colorado system, and California Minor's population is estimated to be just over 8 million at present. Planet Harris Sector 4B/4C, Tau-31 System. Borderworlds. Previously a barren world, Harris was the object of one of the first large-scale terraforming efforts by Planetform, Inc. Initiated in 450 AS, the project was made easier by the abundance of pure Water and Oxygen ice in the system, while Terraforming Gases were easily transported by Bowex from the Stokes Mining Station in nearby Leeds. Harris was originally scheduled for colonization in 820 AS, but the project has recently suffered a series of setbacks due to attacks by Gaian terrorists. Cold bay depot Sector 5C, Hudson system. Borderworlds. Cold Bay is a small Planetform base built near Planet Atka in 816 A.S., being the first hidden step in preparations for Atka terraforming ordered by the Liberty government. Rheinland discovered this base in 817 A.S. and demanded its immediate deconstrucion, since populating Atka would mean that Liberty would claim the whole Hudson system as a part of its own territory. Liberty has since occupied the system, and a small part of Hudson on the other side. Canterbury station - Sector 4D, New London system. Bretonia. Diplomacy, which is a key factor in my opinion, is yet missing. I really don't think BAF/BPA will hand military class snubs to civilian corporations, especially in wartime, but it never hurts to ask, and it would present a nice RP. Snubs: what about the Raven's Talon and the Waran? RE: Planetform - Venkman - 12-15-2013 Note: You have 2x Canterbury Station descriptions. RE: Planetform - Syrus - 12-15-2013 Planetform owns the following stations / planets and runs the following operations: - Canterbury Station, New London PFI headquarters - Cold Bay Depot, Hudson Preparations for the terraforming of Atka; production of Xenobiotic Filters. - Methyr-Tydfill Mining Station, Poole Fluorine mining from the nearby Torfaen field - Planet California Minor, California Major terraforming operation in the later stages of the terraforming process; considering how long terraforming takes it can be said that this is "almost done". - Planet Harris, Tau-31 Major terraforming operation. The process would be done, had GRN not invaded. Currently cut off from everyone else pretty much and forced to survive independently mostly. They cooperate with Gateway in Poole, Caernarfon supplies them Drill Bits for example. They also cooperate in New London I would guess, considering that their headquarters there are close together and all. Other operations Planetform is involved in is the limited terraforming of Sprague. They also get hydrocarbons from Birmingham in Manchester and Douglas in Omega-3. I would guess Planetform also acts as an advisor for the Miura terraforming project, although from what I know it's not directly mentioned, but I honestly don't know all the rumors and such of that. The flourine they produce is widely used. They also had major cooperation with IMG in Tau-31 prior to the Gallic invasion, IMG supplied the pure water as well as a lot of the silver used on Planet Harris. Hm...probably missed something still... Besides that I'd suggest sticking more to the civilian ship lines instead of the Bretonian ones. While Planetform is mostly a Bretonian corporation they work more like ALG, not limiting themselves to just one house. I suggest using the Gull, Albatross, Heron, Crane and Stork, as well as the Firefly once it's remodeled into the Serenity. Of course you still have access to the Bretonian trading ships; Bowex (by themselves and via BMM) and Gateway (via IMG) both produce them or have them produced for them. I see Planetform, as I said, mostly like ALG or Synth Foods (and somewhat close to Cryer or even IC): as an interhouse faction with (a bit) stronger ties to one house. Hm...if I remember some other stuff I'll post it, I guess... RE: Planetform - Syrus - 12-15-2013 The situation with Kusari is also interesting. Considering that neither GRN nor Kusari actually touched Harris and all... There is (currently) no (hostile) rephack for Planetform in Kusari, you can move rather freely around there. That situation might be interesting. Especially with Planet Miura, Okinawa, being terraformed by GMG and Planet Kurile, Sigma-17, providing the main part of the Alien Organisms which are very useful for accelerating the terraforming process. Another thing is Planet Toulouse in Roussillion: there's something about a terraforming project on that planet's infocard. Something you might want to look into? Though it says another faction is mostly involved in that, it might be interested to RP around it a bit. Then there's that black spot ... Planet Yuma in Coronado. But...you are not very friendly with CR, who are working on terraforming that planet a bit (as it is already quite habitable, but overgrown by fast growing plants). Maybe something can be done to mend the relations? There are many other planets and opportunities where Planetform's knowledge and workforce could come in very handy, which you could help terraform. Again, thanks for the inputs Syrus. Kusary / Planet Kurile seems to point to a relative good standing with Samura I guess. The "Green fuel" project + GMG terraforming themselves their planet" can be an oportunity to RP tensions with GMG perhaps. As for the CR i have still to understand better the past relations to figure where to point. About the ship line and Political positioning, I see that most of you are in favour of civ line and neutral(ish) relations than a Bretonia oriented faction, I'm fine with this and I see that it makes sense. Will update the thread during this week with your input. Edit: About Harris, I'll try to figure what kind of relations Gallic forces wants, I understand that we will not have many things in common and I guess them having not plans to take it it's just an oversee? Thus we will be considered some kind of smugglers if we want to feed Harris as pointed at the relations section. Pendant to have Gallic (and Kusari) feedback though Edit II: Oops forgot to talk about Rousillon, I remember Council not liking to have their system too much known inRP, thus I think the ball in this case is in Council roof. This means that they have 2 options if they want us to work for them. Full contract thus opening their system to us, or a partnership program where we sell them resources and techs while not showing their jumpholes RE: Planetform - Pel - 12-15-2013 One other small thing to think about-- the Gaian ZOI has been expanded to include California. I wasn't a part of that move (and can't really be bothered to care), but I think the players lobbying for that change were using the logic that since Planetform was there, Gaians should be there to bother them. So, even though it isn't part of the current Gaian agenda, if Planetform expands to a new system, Gaians may follow. In addition, although there are quite a few planets that could be candidates for terraforming, apart from Atka (on permanent hold), all of the Planetform projects are only one or two systems away from Bretonian space. This makes me think that the main focus should be on planets like Sprague, Carlisle, Middlesbrough, and Gran Canaria. These are either in Bretonian space or one jump away. Sprague would just be to complete the project (place a base there or have another planetary dock with Planetform IFF). Gran Canaria would be interesting b/c if the Zoners and Corsair refugees opted to let Planetform "improve" their planet, it could cause tensions between Gaians and both Zoners and Corsairs. And as far as a universal, "trans-sirius" model goes, I think Planetform is more like Synth Foods-- because they both run into a lot of opposition from local unlawfuls/quasi-lawfuls. ALG is more properly neutral (and Gaians like them), so its not the best comparison. If they head into Kusari, they should probably run foul of the Farmer's Alliance and Hogosha pretty quickly, which will sour their relations with Samura. If they are in competition with GMG (who also don't play well with Samura) they could end up being red/no-dock with them as well-- which also hurts their rep with Kishiro. I'm doing all of this off the top of my head, but you can see where Kusari could become all red fairly quickly unless you maintain a careful neutrality between the Samura/Hogosha side of things and the GMG/Kishiro side of things. On a last note, Junyo has also been "terraformed" or at least altered by the introduction of alien organisms from Kurile. Add that to your list of planets. RE: Planetform - Tibbles - 12-15-2013 Thanks for the inputs Pel! As for the Gaians following us I think that is more than understandable, said that I'm agree that a big part of activity should be done near Bretonia and surrounding systems. Gran Canaria issue seems really interesting. Noted! Regarding the neutral issue, I was referring more about being Bretonian corp or trans-sirius coorp, having almost all the pirates groups against us will be an interesting and intense job. As for the Kusari part. I'm ok with having some partners and some detractors more than a just plain diplomacy, makes the things more interesting in my opinion. Also, the relation can change as time goes, so I think it' better a "temporary" partners and detractors than permanent neutral relations in this case. |
