RE: Shikoku-Kyushu Jumphole - Kosa - 12-27-2013

The Shikoku-Kyushu hole provides pirates a good spot to strike traders. All you need is some intelligence on trader habits to determine which way they use. If they use the hole and you catch them right there you are in a winning situation. No base to land and the chance for lawfuls to show up and stop you is near zero. So taking the hole as a trader is a bit of a risk.

Otherwise deleting the hole would surely increase trader-pirate activity at the lanes. And we need that.

I vote a solid 0 as the idea has both pros and cons. I'm living my pirate life happily with the hole but would also manage without it - as always.

Eh, I don't know. IMO this won't affect traders at all, but will harm pirates and smugglers who need an escape route.
I pirate in Shikoku, and I never see traders using the hole. I even ask JM to set up shop next to the hole, whilst the other half of the group take up the lane. The JM in the lanes see the traders.

Wait for a few days. Make a POB on that hole. Problem solved.

Yeah, but if you keep it supplied, eventually you will have powertraders paying you to add them to the Do-not-rape list once you get the platforms up. So you can pirate the lane, while getting paid for the jumphole 8|

Why not just limit Trains to the Lanes and not allow them to take jump holes, or make it a risk, like 0ne out of 5 jumps ends in destruction. That would leave the holes to the Freelancers and Smugglers.

The jumphole between Kyushu and Shikoku was the only way in vanilla for the FA, BD and GC to reach the southern parts of Kusari. The farmers closest base is in Kyushu, a few km away from such hole. BD and GC, coming from the north, also had to pass trough Kyushu to access Shikoku and "strike Fuchu prison" (GC have a base in Shikoku now, don't remember if it's a vanilla one).
Removing the jumphole would put the South further out of reach fro these groups. Even with Oita as alternative route, it takes to long to be interesting for them.

In my view, a strange phenomenon about Kusari is that it has become a transit path to the Sigmas and the Taus, where the IMG and GMG attract attention. On the other hand, nothing much has happened with the blood dragons in the Kusari systems, and Kishiro and Samura keep their activity low.

Regarding the proposal, I consider the removal of the jumphole not very beneficial to the dynamics of the sector. I don't have an opinion regarding the tradelane length.

This connection allows traders to bypass New Tokyo system as well as safely traverse Shikoku without using lanes. This in return lowers the pirate-trader encounters, traders make money faster and thus stops trading earlier, lowering pirate-trader encounters even more.

Kusari is pretty empty as it is already, and letting traders avoid encounters in Kusari is hurting it even more.

By removing this connection, traders would have to use the lanes, making the trip through Kusari to Liberty faster but more risky. To counter the heavily pirate-sided encounter on "Planet Junyo-New Tokyo Jump Gate" lane, it could be shortened by one ring, leaving it at 63k long, thus forcing pirates to sit at chokepoint that has 28k one way and 35k the other way, instead of 35/35 split.

Perhaps with more trade ships passing the lanes, Kusari would see more pirates stalking the lanes and thus KNF would have more reason to log. If KNF starts logging, Blood Dragons should also have a reason to log more often, thus fueling the whole trader-unlawful-lawful interaction chain.

You seem to have a problem with traders...do you? First "change colorado", now "move Shikoku-Kyushu jump hole because traders escape and take alternative route".
C-mon, be serious, what's next? Move Omicron Gamma next to Alpha?

I said this about the leeds->magellan hole, which totally rapes bretonian activity in every system that isnt leeds.

I was ignored, and now look. lol
