We need an automated bounty system for individuals, that would make bounty hunting and the game in general much better. Been proposing this for some time, and there are older discussions too.

This was proposed for many times even before you. But it's clear that the system will be:

1. Too complicated for implementation.
2. Too abuse-able.
3. Devs have more important stuff to do.
3. There are better options to fix this the easier ways.

I noticed that form of activity is nearly extinct, what's the problem? Do bounty hunters need 50 M per kill payments to log at all?

One of 2 main reasons EDGE| ( a group of bounty hunters (PMC, inRP) that was very active in 2011) died is because we burned ourselves out being forced to document each and every kill we made. And there was plenty of them.

More than that - closer to the end, we even implemented policy that the one who does the paperwork gets ALL the cash for the kills - and alot of our kills were done in groups, and weren't just single kills.

Guess what? There were almost no volunteers. In the end, we just disbanded the whole thing because it became that irritating, and we wanted to play Freelancer on this server, not Forumlancer.

My2cents.

1 - Today's Disco Atmosphere.
2 - Everyone that is a decent payable recurrent target (like in blanket bounties) either
A) can sport a CAU VIII
B) has auto-aiming turrets (TZ)
3 - Most bounty hunters or mercenaries can only fly up to gunboat in the biggest hunting areas.
4 - People don't like to kerplode in this game. And this ain't EvE. Weird, uh?
5 - It's most fun when doing it in a group. Which is hard to maintain these days.

I can add more points, but these are the big ones.

The first big sever activity blow was when the rules got changed and everyone and his dog started to botshare and run for more bots. This killed the way that we PvPed with years and affected the bounty hunting a lot.
The nature balance of the game demands that the hunter/merc should fly fighter or bomber in order to be able to hunt/intercept something, because most of the targets does not fight when you encounter them but flee or dock. PvP Balance is broken so people does not go to hunt in order to PvP. They prefer to PvP vs willing to PvP enemies.

This is the main problem.
The said 2 classes of ships are totally underpowered in 4.87 compared to other classes. Now not only GBs that were nightmare in 4,86 and now have solaris that hits you at 1000m when your guns works at 300m are OP but also smaller transports can solo VHF or Bomber via his autoaim and increased thrust speed. In 4.86 GBs just needed some skill now you can just fly straight without any bother to dodge because the solaris range and the auto aim denies the snub to come in his effective attack range without taking too much hits in order to make his own made damage worthy. Also another two new idiotic "improvements" like 25k range scanners and the tons of CMs does hurt the hunting since the targets can either see you 25k away and run or cm your cds and flee since there are a lot of good working cms now.
Also cruise off defense tactic is even more viable now with the buffed transps, vhf have no chance to kill such transp if he have proper armour before going out of cd or before the transp reaches base.

Individual bounties are fun and I try to aim for them but it is hard to find enough of them online.

Nuff said the suitable classes for bounty hunting are too nerfed to be worth it to bounty hunt.

Connecticut is here.

PvPers don't have to take bounties to get good pews anymore, they just type /conn.

A OORP system on a RP server, of course there's a conflict.

RE: Bounty hunting - why it doesn't work? - Govedo13 - 12-31-2013

conn was there in 4.85 dedicated pvpers kept ships there. Some didn't even left it, and there were plenty of hunters. Conn have nothing to do with it.

RE: Bounty hunting - why it doesn't work? - SMGSterlin - 12-31-2013

Maybe not Conn by itself, but with the convenience of /conn, it's added to the laziness of PvPers.

You can't deny the fact that if Conn was gone, PvPers would seek out PvP elsewhere, in more inRP atmospheres.

RE: Bounty hunting - why it doesn't work? - Govedo13 - 12-31-2013

I can deny it since there were/are PvP only servers that are less populated then the DiscoGC main server.
Conn is easy to handle with simple changes increase the ammo cost there by 10 remove the option to import ammo and add entering tax and exiting for the command 1 m credits. Even better would be if there is a way to tax players sitting there per hour somehow.
Especially if conn is gone and PvPers are indeed lazy they would rather join unlawfuls or military groups then bounty hunters, check again my first post to figure out why.
Bounty hunting is enforcing PvP on the people that does not want to PvP with you, when lets say gallics pvp vs bretons and liberty both sides want to fight there is the huge difference.

Aside from the formatting that hurts my brain, this.

It is really really sad that people are so terrified of dying, they're willing to turn tail and thrust 60k to a safe dock. You're pvp dead anyway, why not just explode? You know, have some fun?

Seriously.
