I agree with Sarah, she's hitting the nail on the head here.
Perhaps, even though Zoners do keep brining up their lore as an argument, do they not even know their own lore?

Mainly because every time we try to update it Devs change something on us and we have to start over. I mean look at the Fearless, now all of a sudden its built from the hull of a transport? And renamed the 'Q-ship'? May have just as well flipped us all the bird...

Sarawr,

actually Nephilim is a colony ship, but it fall under class of battleships, you know? Fyi you can watch in action colony ships of Freelancer intro, they are well defended and were able to broke the blockade.

just sayin, we don't need to invent bike. There's already solution which are should suits everybody, but dayum official Zoner players won't be nerfed.

I'm just going to drop the same warning in here since a new thread has been started, but the same discussion is going on. Keep it civil. There has been one hefty ban come out of this discussion already and I'm ready to write some more. Keep the language clean and the tone civil. Anymore personal attacks and accusations and people will be bowing out of this discussion for a while.

I don't fly a Zoner cap, but I still find this a taaaaad out of bounds.

Average Battle-transport Cost: 100 Million

Battleship Cost: 500 Million

Carrier Cost: 400 Million

There's a massive gap in between these prices and the people who are going to lose their capital ships will end up with a transport that they can't even dock in house space with to get money back. Essentially, we're just telling them to "get bent" now.

So what will happen to the people who wasted time and money into making zoner caps? Will their effort get refunded? Will they get any compensation or will they just be left in the air and discouraged from playing the game? I mean, really, couldn't there be at least a compromise here to prevent people from lossing the things they devoted so much time into and quit the game? Discouraging players is the least we want today right? I for one believe that the goal of disco is to encourage people to join, not discourage them.
Compromises to this could exist, really, like... couldn't existing aquillons and/or other caps be tweaked as semi-unique ships so that the RP won't go down the toilet? As well as the time and effort?

Dare I say, I have to agree with the OSI OP on all fields. And as leader of the CW ( which I admit, it's unofficial ) , must I say that we're another zoner factions who condemns caps entirely ( we don't use them ) but we still have the brains to see this is a bad idea.

From the way I see it, with this addition of new battletransports the devs are going to turn the zoners back into what they hoped to change them from in the past.
In the past, zoners were the OP powertraders, with all that neutrality and whales and the IDs, devs changed that with the ID limitations yet now... now you are forcing zoners into one purpose by limiting them to a shipline of mostly trade vessels which is quite abhorrent.

CW and OSI ( but mostly OSI as this is the one who's official ) had trading as a big part, but what about Phoenix and TAZ? And what about the legit indies and other unofficial factions?

Moreover, may I inquire what encouraged the devs into planning the implementation of such "final solutions"? As far as I know, no counsel or consent from the official factions was sought. This is quite... insensible dare I say considering that a lot of other factions have a very deep tangle with the devs so they can voice their consent, counsel and feedback and they even have devs/admins in some of their factions while the zoners.... the zoners are left alone completely.

( just voiced my quick questions and concerns, it's tedious to keep track of everything )

The original poster has stated that it was not his intention to start this argument here. At any rate, most contributors to this discussion don't seem interested in making a rational argument so this is over.
