RE: Freighters brainstorming -- How could we make them viable? - Pancakes - 03-27-2014 Yeah... no. Freighters are excellent combat ships. TZ/TS with fast guns, coupled with small hull shape and so and so, freighters are plainly good against bombers, on the direct contrary of what you are suggesting. This makes freighters quite a nice piracy ship, but (and it's a big one) - that's not their purpose. Add these orbital docking spots, to enhance the roles they can take. Don't buff their hulls to un-SNACable level either, since that would hinder them close to immortal. RE: Freighters brainstorming -- How could we make them viable? - Scumbag - 03-27-2014 I only know one pirate on a freighter, that is senor Murcielago in his cap 8 correo and i personaly killed him in my bomber enough to make him change ships. So no, frighters are not excellent. RE: Freighters brainstorming -- How could we make them viable? - Pancakes - 03-27-2014 >Implying he knows how to fly one. K. RE: Freighters brainstorming -- How could we make them viable? - Coin - 03-27-2014 more freighter only docking is a good thing, but be careful of freighters doing the supply runs for the transports - what i mean is that a transport carries 5k of nice juicy price commodity, and then the freighter is waiting at the sell point to unload him. This is just like mining, where a specialised ship is sat in a pre-designated place, and advertises that they have ore for sale/freighter for hire. instead of a hull buff, how about a shield regen buff, that's just slightly faster than the snac recharge time? other than that, perhaps reduce the time taken to cruise from 5secs to 2? or make the frieghter the analogue of the light fighter - faster, smaller, more agile and a pain in the ass to try to catch? I use the average player as a point of referance. That's how every statistic and study is done. Yes, but if you design everything as a noob-friendly combat-wise, you'll end up with the more-than-average PvPer massacring all of them. You simply can't remove the training aspect from PvP, sorry. And that's basically what you aim for with all of these threads. To make PvPing generic, like you have in random MMOs that are click+press 1 2 3. If you want to compare things, take people who are really average PvPers. Who actually bothered to train and learn the tricks, and not the odd newbie who expects everything to come on a silver plate for him. RE: Freighters brainstorming -- How could we make them viable? - SnakThree - 03-27-2014 Freighters are awesome as they are. Add more freighter-only docking spots or jumpholes. You understand me. I'm offtopic but i have to say this: the average pvp player already massacres noobs. Pros massacre average ones. I only want to narrow the gap. RE: Freighters brainstorming -- How could we make them viable? - Pancakes - 03-27-2014 I guess if you had Aerlem's position we would all have double missile CSVs copy-cats then. This isn't an MMO, whether arcade or flying sim - you still have skill factor in both. Stop trying to make this game something it's not. RE: Freighters brainstorming -- How could we make them viable? - Scumbag - 03-27-2014 Nah, you don't understand me. |
