You people are all testing from local servers... You need to test from a server in Germany to get an accurate reading of your speed on the Disco server.

Almost all of your tests are to servers less than 50 miles away, of course it's going to seem fast. I tested to a server almost 5000 miles away...

This thread isn't really about whether it's near the disco server or not. People can post it if they want, but the topic is more or less general internet speeds.

Just to make it fair I did 3 tests. First one to Aukland, New Zealand with a distance of 11400 miles. The second to Frankfurt, Germany with a distance of 400 miles. Third test to Austin, Texas with a distance of 4900 miles.

Aukland - Quality C, Ping 275, Download 11.1 Mbps, Upload 4.01 Mbps.

Frankfurt - Quality A, Ping 25, Download 22.98 Mbps, Upload 7.43 Mbps.

Austin - Quality C, ping 163, Download 15.11 Mbps, Upload 8.07 Mbps.

Local server:

Some server in Berlin:

I actually ran a 4-5 user vanilla MC server on this for a month or two back in 2012. In hindsight I must say that it worked surprisingly well (i.e. not too good) for being on a ~0.6 Mbit/s uplink with other users and servers on the same connection...

I'm currently living in Wales, and have significantly better net than I did while living in the South West of England...

To a comparatively local server.

That's to some server in Berlin.

I'm headed back to Devon tomorrow for a couple of weeks, so I'll get some speedtest results while I'm there to show the difference...
