TBH I think that the canon introduction of a SENTIENT (Not weird like the nomads) "playable" Alien race with its own civilisation and factions is something that COULD be great for Disco, but itd need to be introduced by the devs, not players, its too big.

I have one simple fact here: New factions could be great and all, great RP and so on... but look at general activity on the server. There is simply not enough players. Even the houses that we have are not as active as we would like. Adding more things would not fix this.
If there is not enough players to cover the existing factions, why creating a new one? And a race at that? We have Nomads, I liked the "friendly" nomads that were flying around, that was nice... We have the AI and we have a lot of human factions. Pick something from those. Don't create even more.

I reconice that you have a point but force the people to fill vanilla's factions won't fix this too.

I'm with Hone, a new alien race with a no marginal role could add something good to Disco. But it's not something that players can do. Not because it is too much work in the lore but because it would be a project of the same magnitude than Galia, it can't just start with five guys flying eagles and pretending to be UFOs.

Personally, I hate it when aliens make it into space games, even Vanilla's implementation of nomads feels a bit illogical when you think about it - a nomad possessed human giving the bad guy speech? pfft. We have one alien species and that is enough. Don't turn this into Star Trek.

For a practical reason, Disco needs to seriously downsize its faction count, its map, everything, and condense the universe to fit better with the nominal 50-100 player count.

An I could say: "Don't turn this into an empty world as Fundation was, the space have a lot more to offer than a few humans killing each other" xD

As for the number of players vs number of factions, what you want to do? Tell the people "Sorry we have too much factios, go play with a cryer transport?"

I'm just saying, instead of new aliens, maybe just new nomads who somehow have alterior motives and MOs and are not totally hostile to sirius since they are disguised.

Check the Sentinels 8|

I thought the same saw the AIs were inactive and considering their Lore (back then, but alot has changed afterwards) they were simply too neutral. The AI Faction has alot of potential, me as example would realy love to see the Harvesters back (but of course this time discuss it with K'Hara before pretending stuff from Nomad Lore). This said we have 2 Alien Races in game (not including the Wilde). As I tried many times before requesting new factions I figured, it's realy hard. It's damn hard to maintain a faction which is like totaly new on the mod. So I tried to dig up some existing but inactive factions, I saw the AIs. I saw this as a great oppurtunity seriously cause I was thinking exactly then and imagined that big picture of 2 Alien Races having a big battle and the humans are like "THE FU** IS GOING ON!?". From there on it would evolve into an awesome story. Yeah well I figured that by getting back alive unused factions increases the activity on the surroundings. As example SCC (Sirius Coalition Commissariat) suddenly the SCRA got active too and we had some nice battles and RP in game, people log and actually wonder. The Sentinels, brought back alive the AI Faction as we saw the Consensus rarely around, people inside Omicrons actually started to log more and start relations between each factions. This has continued very well and had alot of QQs and great activity Big Grin even the Nomads and Wilde started wondering the hell is going on (Dunno about K'Hara but many indies were present). Well for Gallia, I still hold my position #removegallia 8| no seriously the systems and all are great, but I wished that the Nomads or something else would've taken over that Sector, it would've been far more interesting and exciting. I would actually consider to move my lazy a** to that Sector just to explore Alien stuff D: but yeah, Gallia ain't interesting :|
