RE: Piracy - Vredes - 08-05-2014 When I pirate and if I do I do it either in a Corsair or in a Hessian. With the Hessian it depends on the enemy. Prices go from 2 million to prices like 20 million SC. Depends on the pirated ship's IFF. If it is a Daumann/Kruger/Uncuts Stealer there are 2 possibilities, either transfer 15 million if it is a 5ker or die, or if it is a miner, drop cargo and wait for a hessian transport to pick it up(we always do so it is not a problem). With Corsair piracy I used something new recently. I high RP encounter filled with riddles and stuff like that. Sometimes people enjoy the encounter and transfer credits even if their cargo was empty and I havent demanded anything. Sometimes even authorities let me go for I am not threatening anyone with guns or something. Exceptions sometimes are made, especially if the trader is jerking at me. When its obvious the pirated can't pay much for whatever reason, let it go and if i fel inspired, i did some sing songs Once I was on my LH Ptrans and a guy asked me if I wanna pirate with him. Can't recall the name, but I have some SS at home, anyways, he asked me how do I decide what to ask for from traders. I think the best way to stay reasonable is to know at least a bit about which routes go the way you are parking at and what commodities give real profit ( scrap, ores ) cause some ppl think that every trader makes 40-50 million per run. So I usually demand a bit more from large ships filled with ore , and usually no more then 2 mill from a regular trader. If I manage to catch someone small, I usually just let them pass ![]() ![]() However if the trader is pesky, I am not scared to empty their pockets out ![]() PS: I am not affraid to pirate scrap haulin' Junkers either xD RE: Piracy - Vredes - 08-05-2014 Ore haulers dont make 50 million. 15 million for the load and 35 million profit if you are on a 5ker. I know, I was saying some think every trader makes at least 50 mill, so it generates a 10millordie attitude at some places ![]() RE: Piracy - Jack_Henderson - 08-05-2014 How much is too much? That depends entirely on the situation and what the pirate offers in terms of interaction. If he does really well and the interaction is something I enjoy (as a player, my char will obviously hate it), the demand can be pretty high. I'm not pissed off by losing my complete cargo in a good roleplay encounter, and I have paid 12 million to a huge battlegroup of Corsairs that caught me hauling water. It felt right. But that does not answer your question. For me, too much is if I realize the bad attitude behind the other player's char. After 4 years, you get a feeling for it and you know those people. If I know that the other side wants to screw me over (as a player), I'll not even bother. He gets nothing from that encounter, which is as much as he offers. Generally speaking, too much is always "drop your cargo", IF (!) there is no transport on the scene to pick it up. And even then, only the amount that that transport can carry should be demanded. Demanding all, to shoot the rest is unnecessary and a dick move (sadly common these days). And as this is still vague, I can personally say (as a well-off player who does not care for money) that I do not mind being pirated for 5 million. With good roleplay offered or if I was careless and made mistakes, up to 10 million is what feels okay. Above, I normally do not bother IF (!) there is no special reason, good rp, etc. I personally also ask traders how much profit they make, then make sure that I do not cut into it too much, so that continuing their route makes sense. I do not win anything by making someone log off, or sundive to do the same route again. Central point for me is: If you pirate for money, which is not wrong and despicable, make sure you offer something in return. You take 10 million? Offer 3 minutes of interaction. Give something back, and it will feel more positive on the receiving end. RE: Piracy - Vredes - 08-05-2014 Sadly jack ooRP hate is implied into the game through piracy. Something which I cannot understand. And logging for the sole reason to make someone's day... well you should feel very bad about this because it is just pathetic. I had my experience. Why do you know something more on that matter? Edit: When someone logs to make money or have an RP encounter as a pirate it is ok, but if someone logs to troll you for the fun of it, that is the ooRPness that i presume might be personal hate to the faction. You don't play a pirate cause you have ooRP hate... He is trying to say that some uses that hate as a reason for pirating certain players or factions and due to that they usually make non-reasonable demands and such. I've seen this while I was in IC| , when the faction got victim of powergaming by two or three players, pirating IC| ships 2-3 times in a run with different characters just cause ... I dunno why .. he thought that's fun RP ... or IDK DELETE - SnakThree - 08-05-2014 DELETE |
