Discovery Board Moderators - 13CentKiller - 09-09-2008 *Steps forward* I would be very willing to step up for the job, I also have IPB experience. General Discussion and/or Tutorials & Support would probably be my forte. Cheers:cool: Discovery Board Moderators - Srkad - 09-09-2008 Maybe people with 1000+ posts. ya know, Safety first. ;) King's a nice responsible guy. *hint hint* Discovery Board Moderators - VincentFerrex - 09-09-2008 ::Looks at the thread, and walks away:: Discovery Board Moderators - Turkish - 09-09-2008 As I'm on the forums everyday for several hours everyday I would be more than willing offer my time if you have need of it. I've been with the community for an extended period of time now and feel I have a good handle on the social and political standpoints of the community. I pride myself on being able to step back and survey all sides of an argument and attempting to always find a peaceful and cooperative end to any disputes. I'm also against the superfluous use of the lock option on threads. I'm familiar with IPB as well as PHPBB and some other smaller board software not worth mentioning. Given that my preference is towards social events and matters Id be of most use in the Discovery Playing Hub and Discovery RP factions sections of the current forum, but would be willing to cover anything and everything including Flood. As a side note in my time here I've also garnered a fair understanding of some aspects of Freelancer editing and might of some use in the Discovery Developers sub-forum. While you may not have use of me I felt it would still be good to make the offer so that you're aware of my, and several other peoples willingness to assist in the day to day upkeep of Discovery. Discovery Board Moderators - Seth Karlo - 09-09-2008 I vote for Turkish, but if you need more, I would be happy to help out. My area would probably be the Mod discussion/Balance/Developers area, or the General discussion. Don't judge a person by their post count, like you would a book by its cover. And I tell that to everyone. Just my 13 cents worth ;) Discovery Board Moderators - Linkero - 09-09-2008 ' Wrote:Linkero has 5 years experience with IPB yet he only has 41 posts... Yea I'm the sort that sits back and watches what goes on and only post when its needed. I dont like spamming because 1) it requires the forums to use more querys, which in turn can make the load times slightly less, and 2) It makes the life of a moderator and admin one bit harder. On these forums I have seen a topic go from one page to 10 in a hour. An administrator and/or moderator has to go through each and every one of those posts to make sure it complies with the rules, and if it doesn't then that post gets edited. Yes, I have 5 years experience, probably a bit more, and yes I have only.....a low bit of posts here, but in the end its the Administrator's decision as to who they want to help and who they don't. Just my 2 cents worth :P Discovery Board Moderators - kingvaillant - 09-09-2008 Post count shouldn't count, what does count is the past of the person (Violations, insultive remarks, etc) and its experience and self-control Discovery Board Moderators - sovereign - 09-09-2008 I've cleared up most of the busywork I had to do this past week and will shortly return to my eternal trolling hours on end. I'm co-leader, active leader, second in command, or significant representative of some... six? factions and could probably manage keeping that moving and up to date nicely. I also have acquired a massive well of assorted FL and Discovery lore and background, so any discussion involving roleplaying/vanilla politics or 'how stuff works' falls into my area of expertise. So does virtually everything involving Rheinland. I'm here if you need me, and I'll try not to fix people's spellings unless they ask:P And if post count is a factor (consideration maybe, factor not so much) I'm certainly qualified... but I'd think that having spent some 5-6x more time on the forums than ingame would be a little more significant (silly ISP blocks me from accessing server... forums work just fine, and the mod and admin CP on the Rheinland Unlawful forums seems perfectly fine too, so no worries about effectiveness as a mod). Discovery Board Moderators - Horon - 09-09-2008 If you need another mod, I am willing. |
