RE: Faction activity support group - Stefz - 09-01-2014 (09-01-2014, 11:16 PM)Snak3 Wrote: Wouldn't organising event lead to the same? Those events usually end up very unbalanced without Admin presence. This way, that huge skype group can be divided into 2 additional groups - said groups would consist of people who would like to participate in, let's say Outcasts vs Corsairs event. It could maybe have some RP consequences, but nothing that much important, instead, its main goal would be to create activity and show people that there is still some fun left on this server. DELETE - SnakThree - 09-01-2014 DELETE RE: Faction activity support group - Stefz - 09-01-2014 You missed the point. It's pretty much impossible to create events between a faction that has 10+ ppl flying (is there such a faction?) and the one with 4-5 active people. It would either lead to ridiculous gankfests and the ganked ones would complain, or it would lead to a point where a 10+ factions would have to prevent some of their members to participate, leading to, again, a lot of complaining and general hatred between the members of the faction. Edit: Pavel's solution would practically make it possible to balance those events, in which everyone who wishes can participate and everyone would be happy. RE: Faction activity support group - Luke. - 09-01-2014 It's a nice idea, having a conscript style of play is fine and all. I've seen it done fairly recently (bandit) with the odd faction or two, simply to create a bigger variety of RP and PvP. However, it is very unnatural and seems a 'lil bit desperate if it gets out of hand. I for one would not let people log my factions (CL} and XA-) tag whenever I felt like it because it just doesn't make a lot of sense. The idea of joining a faction is to be able to create a character and develop it as well as have some bigger pews for the whole servers enjoyment. It's a very oorp concept that to be honest, is a bit...eh it's hard to explain. I'm tired. I'd also prefer quality over quantity. I don't rule a factions influence out just because they're not so active in-game. Forum RP counts for a lot to me but that's just personal opinion. Plus, it'd be hard to figure out who's in what faction anymore as everyone would notice that a factions sudden burst in activity would be due to others flying the tag just for a bit of publicity that it doesn't really have. Call it a placebo effect I suppose. I see where you're going with this. I like the idea, I just think it dulls down the potential quality of a faction. As Stefz has mentioned, if it's limited to events and such then yes I can see why it'd be a good idea. On the other hand though...why not just allow indies and then see if they want to join the faction afterwards? RE: Faction activity support group - Grail - 09-02-2014 I like the concept of the idea. I think that lots of factions need some kind of "love", because without them the conter parts suffers from the same. Count me in, if you want. G. RE: Faction activity support group - n00bl3t - 09-02-2014 I tend to join inactive/low activity factions and then bring them up for fun and trying things out. I feel like I get more time being tutored on a faction's roleplay and other facets of things when it is such a thing. RE: Faction activity support group - Hannibal - 09-02-2014 instead of using same tag as the official ones why not just have it at the end of the name? that will not cause as many problems for them also they shall be required to be accompanied by an official member when they log in
RE: Faction activity support group - Papa Oomaumau - 09-02-2014 I don't understand why fake faction activity would help anything. It's like accounting 'trickery', and while it may make the ledgers look good, it's pure air. And when it's time to prove liquid funds (or activity) there's nothing there except a hollow sound. Makes about as much sense as admins logging in 30 extra ships to show how active the server is. When someone new comes to play based on false numbers, won't the disappointment be all the greater? RE: Faction activity support group - Highland Laddie - 09-02-2014 Quote:Pavel's solution would practically make it possible to balance those events, in which everyone who wishes can participate and everyone would be happy. You could also just as easily make more Open-participation events and then divide the teams up based on how many players want to show up. RE: Faction activity support group - Euca - 09-04-2014 I totally support this. I get that it's "fake" activity, but by getting active these factions gain advertisement for other people to join. While the quality over quantity point is valid, it should also be noted that factions with low numbers tend be forgotten in terms of quality, since they're just not there. It'd be best to give this a shot and see how factions involved are boosted in terms of advertisement and activity. |
