Here's an idea:
Stop trying to directly modify parts of fighters to make capships.
You have to do things a lot more loosely. Jinx has mastered the art, I think, albeit I was a little disappointed with the BH cap replaces. The problem here is that when people design a capship they try to start it as a fighter and grow it into a capship. Unless it's a Gunboat or smaller it has to be done the other way around. You need to isolate an idea of a capital ship. Take some simple geometric figures, slap them together in an orderly fashion in your head ans see what comes up. Take warships you know and base low-poly designs around those. Battleships are not the evolution of fighters, albeit they seem to handle like it. You need to isolate a capship concept first and THEN add distinct fighter-like features. Let me get my biggest example:
AAAARGH. The original is gone. Anyways, the first try at remaking the OC Dread was essentially a Sabre, flipped upside down, with a longer nose.

See, I had an idea for a long series of spartan, conjoined segments that formed the base of this. It was Outcastified later. I know EXACTLY how I want the BHBS to look-I just don't have the time to do it.

Well i hate the current BH battleship... while it looks good it also looks well out of place... And usually is with it's oorp locations...
Tic's model, looks to fighter like. so No Go... what' happened to Jinx's replacement model?

the concepts were made by dreygon. i just modelled them. - while dreygons destroyer and battlecruiser were great - i think.. the battleship was boring, simple as that. - since i had no concept of my own for it... i just never finished the one that dreygon suggested.
i had a half finished model around - but due to a harddisc wipe last week, its gone now anyway ( but i don t think i d have finished it - so nothing s lost )
for now, the current BHG battleship stays the way it is - and i don t think its a bad one anyway. while the textures are indeed a bit colourful and a bit star wars like, its by no means a popular star wars design... it looks like star wars alright, but i cannot remember where it might have popped up in the movies at all. so its not like its a star destroyer or something.
so the BHG replaces only include anything up to the battlecruiser - the battleship remains what it is.

I wish I had the time to learn how to use Metasequoia or some other designing too. I used to draw spaceships quite often as a child and teenager. Some of them were pretty good too - at least my friends thought so.
The current BH BS is an okay model, but has the potential to be even better. The only serious problem it has is that "beard" structure near the bow of the ship. Whack that puppy off, or at least trim it. Stylistically it doesn't match the rest of the ship's design. It looks like someone just cut and pasted a chunk of a Nebulon-class frigate onto an otherwise decent model.
The BS could be a shade darker as well. I'm thinking that something along the lines of that skin on AoM's new and improved Orca would be about right.
And the hitbox looks like it needs a serious fix. Ouch.
I would encourage Jinx or AoM to redesign the BH BS. I like their work and many on this server share my opinion.
