Borderworld Ships - Drake - 09-25-2008 The Falcata is obviously based off of the BW design, but is also obviously different. Smoother, fewer hard angles. What's really interesting is the fact that the Outcasts are the only major faction which lacks their own unique line of fighter-class ships. Borderworld Ships - SanjitVignesh - 09-25-2008 Quote:I agree with you about the ships Baltar, but making Zoner ships unavailable to civilians is not right. Zoners use the border world ships, those are something like advanced civilian ships. Making them unavailable will be a very big mod change and that is not so easy. Well, I posted the same in this thread. http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=23358&st=0 Borderworld Ships - Jinx - 09-25-2008 we can also just take a step away from the original idea of borderworld civilian and simply label them outcast. - its only words anyway. - currently, you can scream civilian as much as you want - but when you as a "civilian" approach crete in a sabre, you are NOT treated as a civilian but as an outcast friend. why not simply translate that and make the BW shipline outcast - there is no singleplayer campaign that stops us doing that - and the reputation of those ships is outcast anyway. - you cannot tell me that there is a single lawful that does not get an itching trigger finger when a sabre turns up on his scanners. - BW = unlawful however much it was not intended that way originally. Borderworld Ships - chopper - 09-25-2008 Quote:The Falcata is actually the OC bomber. It has a borderworlds base to it, but you'll note that the design is something of a departure from you standard BW fare. But as to the Vanilla BW ships Falcata infocard : Quote:Series ZX "Falcata" Border Worlds Bomber While it is a development of the Outcasts, it is a part of the BW line, which means it's produced for others as well. Also, check the last bold part. Available on market! So, all in all, Falcata is not an Outcast ship, it's a BW ship. It is an Outcast design however, but that's all. Borderworld Ships - waddoff - 09-25-2008 Jinx has a point there, the BW ships will always be associated with Outcasts. I'd prefer it if they were civillian, but thats just my biased opinion. I'd say the Falcata is prob'ly same deal as the Cheetah Thruster and the Inferno. I'd imagine the Outcasts to be pretty selfish about their accomplishment with the Falcata, they have no reason to sell it to anyone else, and it doesn't mention it was a colaborate design with anyone, just that they used the BW ships as a base. By that same logic, Kusari lawfuls could use some Blood Dragon ships. But that ain't right. I'm not sure if its oorp to pilot a BW ship if your not an Outcast or an ally, but if it isn't then all you need to do is out-rp the trigger happy LN and your fine. I got a Freelancer with a Sabre myself, and I've had to stare down the gun of a Liberty Cruiser and tell them repeatedly I wasn't affiliated with Outcasts. Borderworld Ships - Klaw117 - 09-25-2008 Well we would solve everything by selling the ships on some of the Freeports. I'm willing to let the Outcasts take the Falcata, but I will NOT let them take the Sabre!!!! Once I learn to mod ships, I'm going to create a true BW bomber. EDIT: Actually, the BW ships have a freighter, but not a REAL bomber while the Civilian ships have a bomber, but not a freighter, so it's kind of fitting. Other people use these ships... Zoners, Hessians, Bundschuh, Freelancers, mercenaries, civilians, explorers, etc. Outcast may = BW, but BW does not = Outcast. If you're a soldier in Afganistan where the Taliban uses mostly Land Cruisers to get around because they're versatile and solid vehicles, then you'd probably ready your weapon if you see one speeding towards you. However, anyone with enough money to buy one has a Land cruiser there too, so it's likely a false alarm. Possibly the reason that you have easy access to them is because there's such a high demand from the Taliban that they send a lot of Land Cruisers there. BW ships are associated with Outcasts almost always fly them, but theres no way you can say that almost everyone who flies BW ships is associated with the Outcasts. Borderworld Ships - teschy - 09-25-2008 It would be simpler just to globalize the Falcata, so certain factions that already use the BW line (hessians, bundschuh, etc.) can use them as their bombers. Borderworld Ships - Lucend - 09-25-2008 I always saw it as the Outcasts being more social than the Corsairs, therefore their shipline gets used more often and is able to "corner the market." The MXX classes, on the other hand, don't get used by Corsair allies. Add to this fact that the Hessians, which I believe are the second largest pirate group, buy Borderworld in bulk. It wouldn't be a leap of faith to assume that Borderworld can be bought at any Hessian, or Hessian allied base if you have enough money. (But a Corsair wouldn't sell you a ship, the NPCs seem to be incredibly hostile to anyone foreign.) Summarized: The shipline is simply an "I stole it" argument that works. It's Outcast designed, but not necessarily restricted to Outcast. Borderworld Ships - Ash - 09-25-2008 Its gonna be Civialians cos just cos a ships in the border worlds doesnt mean its outcast. Otherwise theyd have a hell of a fleet variety to choose from which isnt fair really. |
