Is it very hard to get a nomad brain and nomad big brain...? - Tenacity - 09-25-2008 NPC capships have horrible aim. That's why you dont kill them first - they may do a lot of damage, but chances are they arent the threat to you - the fighters are. Is it very hard to get a nomad brain and nomad big brain...? - Linkus - 09-25-2008 Also remember that a battleship patrol may have gunboats and fighters escorting it but they will rarely move to attack you properly. If you take out the Battleship first, the others have a tendancy of simply running away. So munch on the fighters, chew on the gunboats and tear up the battleships. Is it very hard to get a nomad brain and nomad big brain...? - Icewolf - 09-27-2008 killing the nomad ships is quite easy (i find my self killing them when i get bored) I would recomend being in a GunBoat(GB) or bigger. I first learned that A GB can easily defend against the nomads. I was in the corsair GB when i started jelly fishing. After awhile i also learned that the molecular shield is strong against the nomad weapons. Im now in a cruiser and solo these nomad fleets of a battleship 2 GBs and 5 fighters. and like everyone is saying take out the smaller guys and work bigger. these fleets are formed and they dont unfor until you destroy what they are formed to. so when they are formed to the battleship they are sitting ducks they dont move when you shoot them, so that means easy pickings. Also ive learned if you stay right next to the BattleShip then you will less likely to get hit. It sems the nomad turrets on the GBs and BS are for longer range so id stick as close to the BS as possible and just open fire. I hope this answers any questions if you have any further questions feel free to PM me. Is it very hard to get a nomad brain and nomad big brain...? - Wes_Janson - 11-24-2008 I do my nomad hunting (when I do it) in a zoner destroyer usualy. I usualy do gunboats then the battleships. Fighters I get them as targets of opprotunity. I see one not moving much, I shoot it quick, otherwise I dont concentrate too hard on them. If you want to get a loadout for nomad hunting only, remember nomad NPCs lack sheilds. Get strong anti-hull weps that can handle sustained fire on your ship (turrets are sometimes better than razors/mortars for this purpose) and go to town. [Soloing one of these things is HIGHLY unrecommended, but mad props if you do.] 2. Attack the Gunboats. I don't care HOW scary the BS is, or how annoying the fighters are, kill the Gunboats first. 3. The fighters will stay still for a shot while after the gunboats are down. SN the fighters. ALL of them. 4. Now that all the other ships are dead, attack the BS. When the other ships die, the BS stops firing. A few minutes of SNs to the BS and maybe some Cerberus turrets will kill it off. 5. Press 'B' for your reward. 6. Dock, repair, restock, repeat. Achievements: Lazy Capwhore: Kill off the entire patrol with a Battlecruiser or Battleship. Partially Insane: Kill off the entire patrol with a Talarca Light Cruiser. All other cruisers are more powerful and have more bots/bats, so they don't count. Partially Awesome: Kill off the entire patrol in a Gunboat. Awesome: Kill off the entire patrol in a bomber. Insane: Kill off the entire patrol in a fighter. Double Awesome: Kill off two patrols in a Gunboat. [Simultaneously] Double Insane: Kill off two patrols in a Bomber. [Simultaneously] Cardamine-smoking mother-trucking son-of-a-biscuit-eater Madman: Kill off two patrols in a fighter. Fighters, Stay behind them, after a while somehow they forget you're there and group up again, then take em out from behind 1 by 1. Gunboats, ok gunboats you need too strafe around them try too get underneath them because only 3 guns can get you then, and just shoot the hell out of it. Battleship, well this is easy/hard unless you're an expierienced bomber pilot with the SN which does 135k dmg, i suggest you use a gunboat or a cruiser, Gunships take a while too kill them because of the lack of firepower, what you have too do without the cruiser is strafe all around it and try too stay behind and dodge asmuch as you can. and there you have it you're easy-squichy killing guide. Thanks. Corsairs-Luis_Benitez. Is it very hard to get a nomad brain and nomad big brain...? - jammi - 11-25-2008 Generally when the nommies spawn outside Yarren it's open season, and the tactic (for GBs) I've found that works is to take out the two escort GBs to minimise additional firepower, then hug the nommie motherships belly. The turrets are so spaced out along the ship they can't hit close targets. After that it's a matter of persistance, or if there are multiple patrols, bats. Geting the brains isn't hard NOW, as for later *cough* mod *cough* Well... Stock up I suppose. |
