That's just brilliant! What great rules, really helping the spirit of RP there!

i like to think the cruise rules are very simple

if u engage cruise u r deemed to be in retreat and must make haste to depart the system. you may fire back in self defence but u cannot cruise away and come back to re-engage.

if ur enemy engages cruise at any time during the engagement, he is deemed to have fled and is subject to the same rules above.

with -- deference to Reverend Del's post on the matter:P

Sure they are, but they really translate to punishing cap ships while allowing fighters to flee, reengage and shieldrun.

Plus they are oorp rules, enterin cruise is a tactic as much as using ekill is.

I'm willing to bet this rule exists because some admin attacked a cap ship with a bomber, but forgot to bring a train CD, because that's the only thing that makes sense about this whole rule.

I forgot, Bombers are supposed to have to stay within a cap ship's uber powerful guns all the time. Once they hit 3k they should be considered fleeing because thats 500m outside the Caps weapons range. But wait, does that mean if a cap gets more than 700m away from a fighter the cap is fleeing? Or shield running? /End Sarcasm

The real issues is the balance we want between Caps and Fighter/Bombers. Caps and Fighters are not the same ships, not the same size, not the same power, not the same agility or speed. There should be advantages to flying one or the other to maintain some kind of balance.

Akumabito, if you hate it so much here, and the rules are so biased towards admins, as you suggest
once again, I have to ask, just why do you hang around ?
This place obviously does not suit your style of gaming, as those rules seem awfully hard for you to
understand. Or is it you are just obtuse ?
I would suggest you move along now, as you quite obviously have better places to be ...

could well be.. myself, i tend to interpret the rule as requiring players to stand and fight to the end once engaged. and u r quite right, it disadvantages fighters as against caps because fighters are so tiny -- why shoudnt they be allowed to run away recharge and come back? (they r designed to do that surely?)

in other servers this is the case - other servers/mods do not have a shield run rule. buuuut... u see --- Discovery is still a particularly unique server -- its an RP server which means people having a chance to do their RP in peace. they (admin, other regular players) do not want a mod which is dominated by people chasing others back and forth killing other people. that wud be a pvp mod. so it is a matter of striking a balance. the shield run rule says: if u want to fight here, fight and get it over and done with -- quickly.

of course, there is Connecticut for pvp without any rules and players do go there to experience pvp in its full form.

Why do you say I hate it here? I dislike certain rules that don't make sense, and the bias that I see in play here, but that doesn't mean I hate it here. If I didn't think it was worth it here I wouldn't be trying to make it better.

If there is a sign of hating this server and community, isn't more likely to be shown by those that don't try to improve it, who are happy with this poorly written unevenly moderated rule?

Why is fleeing only fleeing when a cap ship does it?

Why was RP and common sense tossed out for this rule?
