Best thing is to wait till new mod release is out. Then ID matter will be clear, and we will release full list of ships and changes on them. After that people can decide which ship to buy or rebuy if necessary.

This Guard ID thingy is a nice thing. It makes you thinking if you'd really like to spend the time to make yourself Guard AND get the money (smaller problem) or not. I'd guess this will limit espacially then insane Liberty Cap-spamm problem to those who really want it.
But nonetheless, if you want to hold your Capship 4.85, missionamokrunner is your best friend (no, there's no char like this in my list).

it sounds somehwat unfair when the dev people say things like "wait for it - you ll see" - but thats not cause we want to have secrets before the other players - ... the main reason for that secrecy is that we don t know everything ourselves..
a lot about ships, IDs - possibilities, restrictions etc... is still not 100% ready - in contrast to 4.83-4.84 ... this update 4.84-4.85 will be a MAJOR update. ( think of the last update as a patch, and of this update as a fully fletched expansion pack )
there are well over 60 ships added, countless systems and new connections - the whole gamebalance is changed ( to the better of course:laugh:) - so its hard to say whats final and what not. - a few things are finally decided already, some balances are finished, but all in all, there are still a lot of open questions... and before thats all decided, no one ( i think not even igiss ) is able to answer most of the questions here. ( so all that can be done is guesswork )
but in general - if you can wait ... wait for 4.85... if you cannot wait... no biggie, a player might loose a few credits for selling / rebuying a ship or other stuff - but its not like the world is going down from that...

Heh, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the order carrier is approved and makes it into the next version. Right now I've got an entire revised character bio and a whole story/ship profile based completely on that ship...

the problem is that we have no way of knowing which ship submissions will actually be approved by igiss for the next version. The order light carrier looks awesome, and is a fully working ship, but there's always the chance that igiss will say "nope, I dont think the order needs that ship" and it doesnt get included... at which point all of the RP and related images that i've spent the last 2-3 weeks creating was for nothing =/
