the flak 88 mod follows completely different concepts when it comes to weaponry. - disco tries to stick to the old vanilla weapons, while flak 88 has all new ones. - hard to compare the two.

and btw. flak 88 capships have no shields. - they shake like mad when being hit. they NEED the flak and missiles to be able to hit anything smaller than a small moon.

the caps are realistic (to a but biased)to fighters one bomber SHOULD NOT beable to kile, abattleship or cruiser and sadly it can just about do it here reguardless of skill tho thew ships weapons should have the wall o hurt effect

That's why I'd support the idea of importing some of the coding solutions from there. That flak screen was just astonishing...

Yeah the movie showing me all this "Win" made me feel like a excited kid before christmas.

So what I did was to download the mod and start a Fl server, to test the current Mod version.

Some points.
  • The Fighter Vs Capital is very realistic, its possible to evade and be able to destroy a Capital class ship... But it would take for ever and it would be extremely difficult. This I liked, I got onto a Rheinland Heavy Fighter, loaded it with missiles and went out.. Met a patrol of Bundschu that had a Gunboat (rheinland) and had a go at it,the missiles did a good job, it was a beutiful performance, but got shot down after two rounds of missiles.
  • Wingmen, yeah you can have wingmen of the faction your with, just get a wingmen equipment thingy (cant remember name) and sit outside the faction base. Soon several NPC's will come and join you.
  • Cap armor... Theyre buffed... More then I would have imagined.. It was lovely fighting with a cruiser against another cruiser, it took a long time and the effects where awesome
  • Effects... Yeah the Flak mod has several graphical improvements (gloom) and changes how the space is seen (it was AWESOME!) unfortunely, if you dont have a good graphics card your going to get lag.
  • Flak Cannons, are comming next version. Ive read that theyve spent Alot of time on it. Saw some interesting videos on their site aswell. Im going to download it and try it out when it comes.

Yeah... lovely and Oh:

Flak is a vanilla Mod, no new ships (one I think it was actually) but no others. And they still make it great:P


But as a side note... Disco is still the best;)

May i wonder noone has noticed the video is running faster as the game really does. I saw it on the too fast rotating crosshair and some other effects.

Make a video of a disco battle and up the play speed x 1.2. You would not believe it is discovery.

Interesting to see how effective a missile-boat would be if Discovery was modded this way.

Again I recommend you try Discovery missile boat on a non-laggy server (or on our own one with 40 people on)... you'll find out it can kill 6 fighters++ without ever loosing shield.

Their Missile smoke trail effect is way better than the one we are using
