Popular Revolution. Founder's Day Revolt. Bretonian Civil War. War with Buccaneers. 80 Years War. Plenty of things to chose from.

I'd try my hand at it but I feel my writing pales in comparison to several other community members; particularly Commissar, Manticore, Duncat, Omicega, Rodent, etc.

I feel a highly detailed novel from any of them would be amazing; I especially like their attention to detail on the setting instead of the in-game limitations of Freelancer itself. An example would be of the interior of a fighter, station, or capital ship; or describing any general setting whether open space, a field, or a planet.

I could test my hand at a few excerpts or drafts if desired, of course.

All in all, I like the idea, but I think it would be better in form of an anthology. Discovery Freelancer's actual universe is too big for just one novel. We have not only war diaries of the military and pseudo-military factions, but also the pirates, smugglers, infected ones, common traders, girls who were kidnapped and abused by the military/pirates/bored smugglers...

Reading The Unforgiven's story with his Captain Antares would be pretty epic though.

Jack Henderson: The Novel

There's love, there's loss and drama.

Discovery Freelancer - A Song of Drama and Lag.

Maybe a pioneering story? Something to do with the GMG, IMG or other Borderworld factions. It'd probably follow the story of a group of adventures, who became stranded out in the Sigmas or Omegas. Something survival based, I guess.

As promised, my take.

I'll be right back. Just writing this novel.

Slightly closer to the original topic, I really like Rod's idea of the Gallic Crown concealing it's motives initially, rather than an all-out war. It's difficult to do from an in-game perspective, so I understand why the war was overt in the mod, but the ticking time bomb of political manoeuvring you could work into a novel would be a great source of tension.

I'll have to plot out something more detailed now, but I'd probably prefer to write something from way back when the sleeper ships first landed, after the invention of the Liberty engine, but before jumpgates and tradelanes became the standard method of transport. A crew making the cold, long runs between the distant sirian colonies at near-light speed, returning centuries after they left. Again, that's a fairly standard sci-fi plotline.

It's an interesting topic. More plotting is required.

I love the idea which the Rodent gave, I must say. Why Gallia haven't taken that way before?

I give you my support in this thread because I liked your ramblings.
