RE: Within and Without - Foxglove - 11-23-2016 Leaning back in her seat, Gen crossed her legs and straightened out her top before folding her hands in her lap. The entire motion had been just a little drawn-out in order to get some time to think of an answer. It was a habit she had learned during her stay in Leeds, because giving a superior wrong answers might result in disciplinary measures, and in a war zone where even elementary consumer goods were in short supply from time to time, it was something to rather avoid if one could help it. "I can assure you that I'm exercising the utmost diligence," she replied daintily, giving Enma a practiced smile with her head slightly lowered to appear more demure. "If there's something wrong, I'm pretty sure it's one of the assistants. You know full well 'ow inadequate these," she paused for a moment, motioning to where Leticia had disappeared with her eyes, "children can be. Did she even finish school?" Leticia sure didn't look like she had. The girl really reminded her of Cinzia Selvaggio, another girl that was just here because her daddy told her to. Gen had to suppress a laugh as she remembered the first time she had met Cinzia and told her she had a PhD in sucking off people. It really lent credibility to both Cinzia's and Leticia's fathers simply doing this to prevent their daughters from becoming the public school bikes, as it were. Even though the thought was mean-spirited, Gen didn't mind it, since it would never leave the confines of her mind. RE: Within and Without - Loyola - 11-25-2016 "Leticia is my new assistant, you are right. She might be looking not that professional, but she's great and doing her job well. I mean you are here and that means something. It doesn't matter how good are you in general, only thing that matters if you can to survive in environment. She can, she's doing a job that is needed, I can't see where is the problem. Also I'm pretty sure that she have finished the school, will need to check that, actually." Loyola was rather bored with this coversation, somehow pushing words outside. RE: Within and Without - Foxglove - 11-27-2016 Hearing this, Gen simply arced an eyebrow to convey her scepticism, though didn't otherwise comment, as it would lead to nothing. Nobody would end this litany of annoying teenangers anyways. Leticia might have been able to finish school, but that didn't mean that she brought anything useful to the table, like maybe a degree in Maltese Jurisprudence, which would've been useful to Gen, since, as she had found out, most of her job was actually pertaining to legal matters. "As you say, signora," Gen dismissed the topic. The waiter returned and brought her the glass of water that she had ordered. With a grateful smile gifted, the waiter distanced himself from their table, giving Gen enough time to formulate how to continue the conversation. "I take it that your presence 'ere 'as a deeper purpose?" she wagered while holding the glass with one hand that was resting on her crossed legs. "Want to ascertain the functionality of the CID?" She beckoned for where Leticia had left. "Just out of curiosity, 'ow is the girl's view on things? Do you reckon she would cause problems if she knew the truth of what we do?" She put the glass to her lips, taking a small sip of the cold fluid while looking at Enma. RE: Within and Without - Loyola - 11-30-2016 Loyola knew how lame does it sound, be she didn't make a lot of differance between Leticia and Marie. They both were useful and were put on a proper positions. Of crouse, Loyola had a high hopes on Marie and her work in CID, unlike on Leticia, who just was useful time to time when it came to daily business. After a small sip of wine and short moment of thinking Enma asnwered. " Oh yes, I actually need a summary of Council's work in recent period of time. I need overall state of the Council, which plans do they have? What opinions are popular, general mood of deputies. Maybe someone new who can be influenced in a right direction? " It looked like she did not have a live interest in it, she sounded pretty routinely. RE: Within and Without - Foxglove - 11-30-2016 It was always a thing with Enma that she never seemed to interested in what she was doing unless it involved intense f*ckery like suddenly discharging the not-very-subtle loriclytic cysts that sprouted from her Sabre like weird Nomad tumors. Gen had once gotten close to that ship and it had creeped her out to no end, as it almost seemed as if it were alive and could notice her. Then again, Gen was a fairly superstitious person, all things considered. "The Council's work, popular opinions, plans and current important people," Gen repeated quietly, letting out a large breath. She reached into her pocket to retrieve a pack of cigarettes, withdrawing one for herself. "Pretty much what we're used to, except two things. I've been entreated to contact both Bretonia and Rheinland, the first to improve current relationships and 'opefully allow us to field larger ships in their space, and the latter in a plea for neutrality." There was a lighter inside the box that she withdrew and lit the cigarette with, beginning to smoke. "I mean, there is literally no rational reason that Signora Martelli's advisors can think of that would prevent us from coming together in peace." She pointed at Enma with the cigarette. "Which reminds me: Ilena Martelli is now apparently working as sort of a mediator between trivial matters and her sister, who can't be assed to read anything coming 'er way." "Would you like one?" she asked her out of courtesy, extending the box of cigarettes towards Enma to offer her one, pretty sure the Nomad in her guts wouldn't like it too much. Would that be like housekeeping for it? Keeping the host clean? "But yes, there 'as been some propaganda advertising the peace with Rheinland as well, and it seems to be received well enough. It isn't overbearing, which also 'elps. Only some secluded families seem to not want to 'ave anything to do with it, but they didn't pledge allegiance to the National Council anyways." She paused for a moment, the box still extended. "The topic of a 'ouse 'Ispania was also mentioned in conjunction with this. Two 'ouses acknowledging Malta as the rightful successors of the Sleeper Ship 'Ispania would legitimize us greatly, although we would confer with our allies and..." she trailed off, shaking her head. "It's still some ways in the future, if anything." RE: Within and Without - Loyola - 12-01-2016 Marie's report was useful and useless and the same time. At one hand she have received quite a bit of information that can be used, on other hand Marie was not really working on her cause it seems. She also couldn't blame Marie for this, since Enma have never explained her anything in details. She wasn't the best mentor and hoping that everything will happen on it's own. But anyways she liked Marie's style of work and apparently in time she will become what Enma want her to become. " So Cristi is trying to dive into shadows again. That was to be expected, she was hidding when took a high position in a Bloodrose family. Later she was guesting in Kusari, even called herself a GC. Quite eccentric person, I'd not say that she is a generic Maltese donna. Apart from that, I have no idea who is Ilena and that's an issue. Knowing Cristi, she will allow this person to take quite a bit of power. You will need to find a way to manipulate her, no matter which methods will be in use. Of crouse we can influence the Council regardless, since solutions they will make will somehow base on the information that we will provide. And that was the point when I've started to establish a control over this particular service. Even if situation will become critical, we have enough of potential to start making political assassinations and terrorist acts. Maltese oposition to the Light must be under control. Of crouse rule of the Crimson Cross was quite comfortable, but after all I had to start something new, to get rid of it. Even despite the fact that they directly served to the Light, their governing body was not reflecting Maltese needs. It caused irritation and opposition to their rule, and since they have 'represented' the Light, it was hardming us as well. Since the Cardamine didn't improve generic Maltese mind to serve to the Light directly, I have decided to put an efficient monitoring and control system. The National Council itself was suppose to become one, but since I've lost my position, the project itself became smaller. Now CID and you in particular are my main instruments here. I hope you won't repeat Rosa's mistake and will be thankful. " Enma took a sip of wine, switching thoughts. " Now about the politics. Accepting Maltese as the legimate house is a positive process and I approve your work here. There is some chances that Cardamine will become more common this and Maltese worldview will spread around Sirius. It's quite amusing to hear your replica about the Hispania, maybe because you are outsider. This is obvious for every Maltese that we are the Hispania, it's just an old name that wasn't used almost from the beginning. Maltese have more creative mind than other houses so we have called our nation differently. I guess for the outsiders it will be somehow new, so spreading this particular point of view is making sense, especially when it comes to diplomatic relations." RE: Within and Without - Foxglove - 12-03-2016 The name 'Cristi' seemed eerily ill-fitting for a woman like Cristina Martelli, Gen found. She herself had only occasionally seen her, mostly using the neural net to get in contact if necessary. "There is also the risk of the president turning the Council into her family's personal power tool," Geneviève offered to Enma, wanting her to at least consider the point. "There's a word described for nations owned by single families that I conveniently forgot. You get what I mean, though." She took the time to place the cigarette against her lips to take another deep pull, letting the smoke stream out slowly, wondering why Enma was actually here. There was no reason why Enma couldn't just demand a memo or something like that. "As for the 'Ispania, it is just chit chat in the Council chambers right now. As it stands, Malta is still seen overwhelmingly negatively by the majority of Sirius. Being able to sway two major 'ouses to accept us legitimizes us in a way the Cretins couldn't even dream of." Pulling the ash tray towards herself, Gen flicked the gleaming stick of slow and torturous death against it to get rid of the excess ash. Since Enma hadn't wanted one as well, the box was just lying on the table between them. "Why are you really 'ere, signora?" she asked slowly, not believing that Enma would simply show up to be polite, because she was anything but. RE: Within and Without - Loyola - 12-03-2016 The cigarette smoke was something that Enma could tolerate, but in the case of Marie it was a bit too much. She did not want to waste her time teaching this girl to smoke proparly, maybe Marie will learn about it by herself one day. Enma could asnwer this question without an issue and probably would do, but she did not want to allow Marie too much. " Why are you even asking this? Don't happy to see me or maybe hidding something? " Yes, Marie seemed to be way too relax, it was a time to play on her nerves for a bit. It will be also interesting to see her reaction. Loyola did not trust her until the end, Rosa was her main agent for this. Marie is quite talented, but still got that high because of the lack of a better candidate. Enma believed that Marie needs more work on herself and only in time she will worth a full trust. RE: Within and Without - Foxglove - 12-04-2016 The question did cause Gen's mind to go into overdrive for a little while as she feverishly pondered how to appropriately answer. The smoking was something that helped her quite a lot with that, as it allowed her to waste time pretending that she couldn't answer because of the smoke. "Signora, you insult me," she said daintily, not wanting to sound rude, but rather state a simple truth about the matter. "I can assure you, the question was simply born from a sense of diligent duty." Gen was used to a rather rough treatment when it came to Enma, though she did owe her quite a lot, and so it would be quite graceless to be ungrateful, and Gen hadn't been raised this way. Honour and dignity had been important values she had been taught, and those two eventually led to her seeking the Royal Navy until she got wounded and discharged. RE: Within and Without - Loyola - 12-04-2016 Enma just shortly smiled, giving Marie a reason to relax again. " I'm visiting you to talk in person, hear your report face to face. Personal contact is quite important, you are not going to deny it. I also want to keep things under control. I've recently kept myself away, relying on people like you. You probably could send me a report, but I prefect to see everything on my own. You can call it an inspection, but there is nothing to afraid. So, do you have something on this" She paused to recall a name. "Ilena? I am concerned about the role that this person can play. |
