This is not allowed and doesn't solve the problem.
Although from what I can tell there is no way to do this elegantly (with my rather limited knowledge of PHP) in PHP. There is a way to hack this in MyBB itself but it's not ideal and should not be applied unless there is a better way that I'm not thinking of right now.
