I pretty much stopped reading anything fictional (after almost finishing Game of Thrones - wow, the last book is sooo badly written! I normally do not give up when reading).

I find non-fictional political literature about the present and how it is a result of the past very rewarding at the moment.
Especially, I liked:

Henry Kissinger, World Order (great way to understand the big conflicts on earth)
George Friedman, The next 100 years (a look into the future, written in 2009 - interesting to see things developing or not coming true)
Mark Mazetti, The Way of the Knife (on secret drone wars)
John Kiriakou, The Reluctant Spy (on torture in the War on Terror)
Daron Acemoglu, Why Nations Fail (about the reasons why nations are well-off and others are not)

I haven’t really read any good fiction as of late (written recently), I think the last Sci-Fi was Deus Ex: Icarus Effect (James Swallow) and last fiction was Der Weltensammler (Ilija Trojanow). I mostly tend to stick to the “classics” simply because there are just way too many that I want to read but never have enough time; I've accumulated quite the backlog.

Favourite writers would be: W. G. Sebald, John Steinbeck, William Faulkner, some of Brecht and Adorno’s writings, among others. It has been a mixture of nonfiction, memoires, and journals for the past couple of years. Recently finished Dirty Wars (Jeremy Scahill), An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth (Chris Hadfield) and currently reading Personal Memoires of Ulysses S. Grant.

Recently I read The Dinner by Herman Koch. It's an awesome thriller that was really gripping. At the moment I'm trying to make my way through Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged, which is equally as engaging.

I suppose over all I'm a fantasy kind of guy, with a real love for post-apocalyptic novels (sun)

Science Fiction, Fantasy, Biographies, Western, Horror, Action/Adventure, pretty much everything, except for romance novels.

If I had to pick a favorite writer, it would be Terry Pratchett.

Action, magic, dragons, witches, pictsies (Nac Mac Feegle!), wizards, assassins, zombies, Death and lots more.

Not for everyone's taste, but you never know until you try. Wink

It's actually a very tricky question, due to have broad library. But if it went for a book I love to re-read the most - undeniably two of them: The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski and Meijin by Yasunari Kawabata.
