That also sounds like Rogues.

For lawfuls? Sure. But that's the same in any house unlawful group that fills the Rogues role in their own theatres. Fly a Unioner and you'll see the same phenomena, even more so as Unioners are actually hostile to everyone in their origin house except junkers, despite great unlawful rep overseas.

However Rogues are the bread for all the various buttery spreads in the Libertonian and surrounding underworlds. Underworlds from four different houses sell you stuff through complicated supply chains. You're the dependable green that gets invited to every group fight for shared fun and activity.

Going solo to the extent where you absolutely will shoot everything and everyone is a lot more Xeno. Except, y'know, rogues have cruisers, and if the shoot-everything brand of terrorist IDs were meant to have cruisers, they would have cruisers.

I totally get where you're coming from with the 'realism' aspect, but rogues also sell street drugs and random crap they've been palmed off from the rest of the black market. That's very real. Are you going to do that stuff as well?

You are confusing IRP and OORP situations here. Stop overthinking it, please, for your own sanity's sake.

No I'm not, but if we're going to make feedback a personal matter I'll just bugger off and not interact with you till I hear some positive news.

Another Liberty Rogue faction. It is interesting, but I think, it is an extra faction a bit, (That's my little opinion).

We have never interacted in the first place.
The only thing you are currently doing is going into overdrive and doing guesswork as to what potentially can happen and that is a silly thing to do, especially when you have had no interactions with the group in the first place.

You are going full panic mode over no reason and while it is a bit amusing to watch, we are on page 2 with this silliness and I am half tempted to call it a night.

I know, which is why I'm just speculating off the novel, inventive ideas that you've put up here. If you do something new or recycled from an era of Disco where even the same rules didn't apply, people are going to run it against what they already know. It's in no way saying the faction is "bad", I've just been asking how you've thought about possible complications that could happen when you use a faction like a collection of indies that shares an E-chat. That's not over-thinking, or silly, just brainstorming, which is what a faction is, in its earliest stages. It is the nature of any collaborative RP community that we analyse one another and try to figure one another out. You're doing an awesome new thing that people want to know about. Incumbents are going to ask you how that new thing can be fun for them, too, especially as there's two other LR groups around occupying the same space.

Sleep well.

It is not a group of indies that share an e-chat. The recruitment process and membership is the same as any other faction. Applications are had and members are added or not added. What are you talking about?

The issue here is that from what I see you want a nice, predictable faction to interact with. A safe faction to interact with in an uncomplicated manner and without much thought - while both flying either an ally or a hostile faction. A faction with no guesswork involved. A faction who you can, before flying over to encounter, open their writeup and double check if they are hostile to you or not.

Rogues are not such a faction and neither they should be. Whether or not you agree with this statement depends on the difference between your interpretation of cannon lore as well as the examples made by previous factions. You will have to work around us. Not the other way around.

If there is no risk or intrigue, what is the point of having not plannet roleplay encounters in the first place. Go find a rogue and see what happens, will they be your friend or tear your knob off. That's the fun of it.

Fear not; this be my last post here till I have an encounter. If I receive a reply, I'll PM my bit back to you. Don't want to space-hoard.

I'm not interested in 'safe' factions, I'm interested in seeing factions that can function as factions. The Lane Hackers are a great example of a faction that creates large amounts of intrigue and challenges to existing reps, but can be RP'd with. For example, you can organise a convoy with them, or a PVP event where it's a component of some InRp operation, black market enterprise, or another objective entirely.

You can't really do that with indie-nomad-level spontaneity groups on anything other than an Oorp "Let's make a thread, show up, and do this" level, as nothing you do with the aim of talking to the nebulous concept that is 'the faction' will have any impact on 'the faction'. That's my point about removing avenues for player enjoyment - both that of others, and that of yourselves.

Essentially: can a faction that is extremely individualised (and I am all for promoting player freedom, the whole idea of a faction should be to enable people to have the types of fun they want), engage in anything collaboratively? Be it a shared hostile or friendly or whatever story played out in events? Does the contents of a comm matter from one to the next? Is there any sense of reward? I hope so. I hope to see that. Especially if you ever decide to apply for officialdom, in which case you'll be influencing the actual narrative of the Liberty Rogues as a -whole-, as a monolith, where individual character name-drops are actually banned from Disco lore scripting to prevent demagoguery.

Elements of this show potential, but right now I would like to raise two constructive criticisms.

1. The name is bad. Get one more fitting that doesn't break immersion. Like... something that rogue pirates would actually call themselves.

2. You should not encourage the drinking of alcohol, especially alone in front of their computer. That is very bad, and potentially lethal.

Possibly more feedback tomorrow.
