They are also useful for anyone flying a snub or looking for a quick bribe.

And since they cannot let bigger ships dock anymore I don't feel like they're harmful at all.

I like that it opened up a lot of piracy spots when transports were forbidden from docking on them. That being said, the same would be the case if they didn't exist so using them as repurpose material is fine, but there are other solars (and systems) that need removing before them.

The only outcome I can see from this is an eventual proposal to remove police factions from the game at a later date.

Thats not the intention, it can open up a lot of opportunities like more police plazas, "(Name) Impound station" that have drydocks with impounded civilian ships, more prison stations and maybe some other creative ideas. (I think impound stations should be a thing, it seems like a police thing to have.) The idea was to replace border stations with Police cruisers and have the surplus base-slots open for other (most preferably) police bases with bigger opportunities for RP.

Repurpose them. Changing what ships could dock on them showed how little they are needed.

Can you explain how these things are useful to people flying snubs? Just as more places to dock and re-up on consumables?

I think all of the rumors and such ought, definitely, be preserved and re-applied to other places, but I don't think that's terribly hard. It -does- invovle digging through the files and re-tagging everything, but that can be done with a Cntr F for the sation tag you're removing, move everything that you want to the already existing table of rumors to be added, and wrap them back into other bases. That would be fine, and actually make the remaining bases have a higher density of rumors, which from the standpoint of rumor density is nothing but a good thing...so in effect, if the rumors are preserved, the mod gets better that way, because it seems like each base has more rumors. (if you like rumors)
