The Dulzian shot hit Delta-2, but the shield of the orchid prevented it from getting destroyed instantly. The fighter escort of the Akegata got a few shots in on its hull, before the shield recovered itself.
"Alright, time to kill some puppets." Misaki said as she fired up the thrusters and made a wide arch around the Akegata, making sure to avoid the firing range of the Dulzians. "Gamma-1, take care of those fighters"
The 2 bombers now quickly approached from the rear of the massive transports and the simultaniously opened fire with their EMP cannons until they finally made a breach in the shield.
"Set the novas to detonate shortly before inpact. I want the shockwave to damage the engines, not destroy the ship. On my mark, fire."
Suddenly the escort fighters made a sharp turn and opened fire on Delta-1. The Orchid managed to fire the nova torpedo before the ship went down in a violent explosion. The 2 nova torpedoes detonated shortly before the Akegata's shield regained its strenght, blowing off its thruster and disabling the engines. Shrapnel was seen imbedded in the Akegata's hull.
"Delta-1 is down. Akahana, where is our fighter support?"

“Gamma 1 bank left and dive down fast, Gamma 2 bank right and dive. Indiscriminate fire on the corporate dogs, we will avenge our sister!“
Gamma 1 and 2 accelerated and dived down towards the escort fighters. Akahana fired her thruster up too and moved towards them. Her hands ran over her controls and she flipped some switches while trying to calm her bloodlust for revenge.
“Gamma 2 you both take on the Falcon class vessel, I will take care of the Eagle. You are cleared hot.“
Akahana had locked down the eagle and began firing her suncannons. Gamma 2 respectively began to attack their targets too. Suddenly the eagle flies down trying to outmaneuver the blossom. She expected that move and the shots downed the shield of the eagle,until the laser beams ate through the hull. Her fingers flew over the controls and she fired 2 “TMX2A” missiles at the eagle. The vessel disappeared in a bright explosion.
“Gamma wing, a status report on your tangoes!“

Misaki finished the last sentence when she noticed that the dulzians were now focussing on her. She dodge their gunfire and made a hard turn to get out of their range. She saw that the Akegata's engines were now shutting down completely. An eagle vanished off her scanners and saw the bright explosion as she looked up.
"Akegata disabled. 2 hostile fighters left. Stay out of the Akegata's firing range, the guns are still operational. Delta-2 with me. We need to create a dead zone."
Delta-2 formed up with Misaki and they opened fire on the left flank of the akegata alternating their attack runs, making sure that the bomber that was being targeted flew out of range. After the shield was down, they started taking out the dulzian turrets one by one.

Red emergency lights illuminated the command room of the damaged Akegata transport. The crew inside had recomposed themselves from the initial shock of the nova explosions that had damaged KT-407's engines. Each of them manning their posts in a mixture of fear and adrenaline, trying to assess the damage to the ship's systems.
"Status report now!"
The captain yelled to get through the commotion that was happening in the control room of the transport ship and reinstate some order.
"We've sustained heavy damage to the stern of the ship, captain!"
"Power is at 64% and the core is not stable!"
"Systems report depressurization near the engines from the explosion, captain. We've also have external comms offline."
What he was hearing was far from good news. The captain rubbed his temple slowly for a few moments before issuing his new orders.
"Shut down the engines, let us drift and divert all power to the weapon grid. Split weapon groups to track both bombers! And for god's sake - send the engineers to look at the core, if we lose power we are done for!"
His orders were met with a hastily nod before each of them turned back to his duty. Some were clearly reluctant to continue fighting and simply wanted to save their own lives, but even so there was no other alternative at the moment and desertion from their post at this crucial moment would have been betrayal of their comrades as well.

The unexpected change of tactic caught Delta-2 off guard and sustained heavy damage by the flurry of dulzian fire. It pierced the bomber shields and damaged the left side of the hull
"This is delta-2, hull at 30%. Nova intact, but lost 2 EMP cannons."
Misaki made a hard turn to the right and made sure to get out of firing range. She looked at the Akegata and saw that 3 of the Dulzian turrets were destroyed. Of the remaining 4 dulzians, 2 were focussed on Misaki and 2 on Delta-2
"Changing tactics. That ship wont survive another nova impact directed at the flank. Gamma wing, strike the remaining turrets while evading their fightercraft."

Gamma 1 and 2 first pretended to continue to fight the escorts, then suddenly making an unexpected turn dropping off some mines and accelerating towards the Akegata. Akahanas hand run over her controls as she targeted one of the turrets. Neither of the remaining Falcon vessels was destroyed by the mines, but it bought the Chrysanthemum some time.
“Gamma 1 turret destroyed.“
Some seconds later Gamma 2 confirmed the destruction of the second turret. Instantly they thrust away from the Akegata, switching their attention back to their previous targets. She grits her teeth, watching the movements of the Falcons.

With 2 Dulzian turrets remaining and Delta-2's shield restored, the Akegata's left flank was almost put out of action. The bomber shields now lasted alot longer against the dulzian fire, but Delta-2 lost her energy cannons and only her pulses remained. She broke off the attack and assisted the blossoms. Misaki kept shooting at the turrets, getting a few hits in before she needed to withdraw again.
"This is delta-2, assisting gamma wing, Hull is at 30% but stable."
Delta-2 quickly approached the small skirmish going on further away from the Akegata. She patiently waited to get a clear shot and fired the nova. The Falcon was caught off guard and was hit point blank, leaving a small debris field. The other falcon had noticed the orchid's aproach and was now close behind her. It opened fire, destroying the already severly damaged ship.
"Sustaining critici... *static*"
