Your transport is humming along apace. Arbeiter Depperschmidt is no longer in operative control of the Freeman Drive Yards. I believe I owe you a personal appraisal as to the status of the project. [pi amount=11] The transport's structure and root systems are proceeding apace. The wiring harness is mostly complete, as are the core structural components of the transport, thanks to your enduring efforts. The shield grid is incomplete - we will need extensive optical circuitry to calibrate the emitters at a relativistic pace to minimise damage bleedthrough to the hull down to absolute zero. The Colossus is famous for its durability - it is probably why you chose the hull, yes? Well, you will need it to endure.
The shield grid is no different. Rather than use a proprietary DHC unit with DHC mounting hardware, we have taken a commercial-off-the-shelf Daumann grid and mounted its connectors onto Unioner diodes. This prevents bodging - in short, mass gain is kept down, as are incompatibilities, which would cut into your performance metrics. This is more than a junker refit; with the utmost respect to our Puerto Rican Partners - for it needs to do more than simply perform - it must work - it must be constructable - you must not openly violate Rheinland patent law, unless you'd like your Colossus to be impounded - but it must conceal its Pacifican origins. Our artisans will achieve these aims, but the testing regimen will be extensive. In part, just as we did when we rebuilt the Harmony - we will use the shipwright's data for our own projects after the fact. You will need to deliver the remaining components before we can provide a true appraisal of shipwide functionality. The largest problems with replicating the Colossus is, whilst we have the schematics - we do not have the tooling or the subcomponents natively. Instead, we are improvising best-fit solutions and improving where we can - but we do not have the reliability of stable access to DHCs proprietary lines. There will need to be a service test before we can ascertain that the transport is ready to be turned over to Bristol. We are prepared to make the fit-test ourselves - for no added cost. There is a material exchange that would be worth the value of the additional labour and devotion by our shipwrights. Bristol recently charted the Laptev passage, in the company of a trail of Unionists. We would be interested in receiving a copy of the sensor data made by your organisation. It's a good deal, Jaina. The information will be put towards expanding our navigational charts and filling the blanks in our own records. Feel free to aid the cause. As you see, we've finished all of the requested supplies and that part is done from our end. All should've been according to your plans so I hope there was no issues encountered. Thank you for going the extra effort that this ship will be recognized as any civilian vessel. I appreciate that. I don't like risking my people. As for the Laptev charter. I think for the effort and the good cooperation you should have all the basic scans we took. I'll transfer them with this message. Ja, she's a fine ship. A little rougher than if she'd been built at the Alsterwerft, but with more love and attention, I doubt you'll find them. She will fly. She will fly well. Your crew will be safe under her decks, and if you encounter any difficulties in operation or in her machinery, you will have a berth waiting for you on Pacifica. Given enough notice, of course.
Aye, she is a fine ship. But any fine ship requires an able captaincy. I ask who will be the operations man in charge of keeping her decks in order? It would be useful for the Unioners to have a point of contact for future endeavours, yes? Regarding an additional benefit. You have been a stalwart customer who stuck to the terms of our agreement. Good. We may have contracture for Bristol in the near future. Your data on the Laptev passage will pave the way for Unioner operations against the Lane Hacker and Xeno threat. They will be isolated from Bering soon enough. Go - take your vessel. All new hulls need a shakedown cruise, aye? After all - it is part of our way of life to give back, to those who provide us with employment. |
