Uh to respond to all the posts made whilst I was making a ridiculously long rant about a ship in a videogame:
Been flying the kusari yacht all day, 100% sure its impulse is 100, and 99% sure it thrusts to 160.
Luxury Yacht =/= Assault Yacht.
Yeah of course, but at the same time a CD isn't really an assault weapon. I mean, think of the kind of rich jerks who would own this ship. They would want to race around space and impress ladies, and cruise disrupt their rivals as they went about it.

the yacht concept was made from scratch. - and when you do that, you re usually very cautious.. ( make it weak, - you can always improve it ... but if you make it STRONG, you ll experience much opposition to nerf it )
the beetle replace was mostly a replace. - a different approach. - its concept was then quickly done. not long ago, the kusari liner had 80 / 130 speed ( like large transports ) - and i had 2 of the 7 turrets turned backwards.
lets collect players impressions - and then this can be looked into.

The dual CM does indeed make some difference, in practice it means that the ship is basically impossible to CD.
Combine that with 170k armor (=2.5 as much), and you get an un-piratable ship. Something the Kusari Yacht hardly is.

An un-piratable ship isn't worth 72 million when it only has 1500 cargo. And the Kusari Yacht would be pretty good versus pirates with its current stats. I don't doubt that it can take on gunboats if piloted well.
Based just on reading the infocard descriptions, without any stat knowledge, I would expect the Yacht to be the powerful ship and the Kusari Luxury Transport to be the one good at smuggling and running away unscathed. I'd also expect the smaller ship to be the better smuggling ship and the larger ship to have the larger cargo hold.

"Would be" is hard to know just by "thinking". It certainly can't "take on" gunboats, it can run away from them yes.

I compared both models in a modeling program and didn't see any noticeable size difference between those two. Neither of them should be for smuggling.
What I can agree on is that the price of the Kusari Yacht doesn't reflect it's capabilities.

You can buy the Luxury Yacht on the two OS&C planets; Curacao and Baden-Baden. Isn't a great stretch to guess that a ship devoted to luxury would be sold on planets devoted to luxury.
As for the unpiratable thing - yeah, that's sort of cool, but I'm willing to be not a single person bought the yacht to trade and get pirated in.
Personally, when I read about the Luxury Yacht, I envisaged essentially a gunboat. Compared to other gunboats, it would be more agile (or similar to a gunship), bigger, and have less hull, powerplant, and turrets (or it would switch some of the GB turrets for transport turrets).
As long as the Yacht stays on 1500 cargo or below, and can't kill another gunboat (unless you have set the yacht up exclusively to kill gunboats, and it runs in to a gunship set up to kill light fighters or whatever), I don't think people will say it is too strong.
These are my impressions, anyway. I'm still going to buy the luxury yacht, because RP-wise it really fits what I want, almost exactly, and many times closer than the next-nearest options, but yeah, in terms of everything except RP, it seems like it is pretty terrible, and almost criminally expensive.

My issue is that the Kusari Luxury Transport and the Yacht seem to be essentially the same thing, at least they sound like they're supposed to be. They're luxury transport-class ships for people with lots of money. But the Kusari version is far superior, even if it lacks the armor of the Yacht, and is FAR less expensive even though each one is supposedly custom-made for the owner.
Though it turns out they have the same speed, 100 impulse/160 thrust.
