Superior Phantom ships/weapons - Doom - 03-15-2009 0% outnumbered isnt not valid point since all get outnumbered in some point in time. But they do have best pilots on the server and huge amount of experience. With better equip nobody would have any chance against them if numbers are equal. I couldn't give a damn if certain factions have better kit, so long as there is roleplay precedent for it being better... for example: Nomads... They are known to be bred/grown to keep sirius safe from intrustion by the kind of race that can construct dyson spheres and biologically engineer sentient hive-mind beings... Of course they're gunna kick a lot of ass. Equally, the phantoms. They are an arm of the Ctan empire, a massively technologically advanced race, who supply limited tech to the Phantoms themselves. This is done in measure to ensure they're not too out of place, and fit roughly with their surrounding. But none the less they will have a battlefeild advantage IN ROLEPLAY. With this in mind I see no reason why certain groups can't have marginally better weapons and so on. So long as they are regarded as special factions and as heavily roleplayed as the nomads and phantoms are. The Coalition should have pretty nifty tech as well IMO, if only to increase the fear factor when they appear. People should be afraid of these groups, and giving them an advantage helps with that. The Keepers, Phantoms and SCRA are players much like everyone else. They have awesome pilots, and they have weak pilots, like every faction on the server, but all three should be feared. Somewhat similar to the gallia capship weapons, which are slightly better than our sirius equivalents. Example, the gallia Heavy Trebuchet (equivalent to the heavy mortar) does 5000 more damage than the heavy mortar, with slightly higher energy cost. The gallia cruiser glaive (equivalent to cruiser razor) does 4000 more damage than the cruiser razor at slightly increased energy cost. Something similar for phantoms, nomads, and wild would be ok, slightly more damage for slightly more energy cost, it doesnt actually make them more powerful - but it does give them a little more 'burst' damage than what is available to others. Superior Phantom ships/weapons - Vape - 03-15-2009 zero they don't deserve better ships because they are "elite" (i personally have a problem with "ELite" factions but im not going to go there) EDIT: in reading Kurosoras post i have a similar response in the event i run into one, although if im not engage, i immediately reach for a cap (i am one of the best pilots on FW, but only do this to level the playing field, i usually try not to give my enemies an advantage knowlingly, but thats just how i fight) Superior Phantom ships/weapons - Eppy - 03-15-2009 I can't believe I'm going to say this, but...*sigh* 0%. I'm disenfranchised with how the Phantoms work, and quite frankly they already have one of the most defensible positions in Sirius, with now-exclusive (and pretty decent) craft, and some of the oldest, most experienced members. I've completely lost my confidence in the Phantoms as a force of exceptional RP. If they can't last in a PvP without aids then too bad. Superior Phantom ships/weapons - Jinx - 03-15-2009 zero - being in the faction is voluntarily - so arguments like "flying against the odds" "being outnumered and attacked by everyone" etc. don t count. balance gives everyone the same odds - and thats good... what good is a win when its unjust, cause unbalanced. and how scary is being killed by someone you had no ch ance against from the very start.
