FYI - the reason for changing the name of freelancer is to get most(all) people to run the updater - especially the folk who don't change their shortcuts. Unfortunately I didn't think of the case where people launch Freelancer from the XFire (didn't know you could do it). There are other ways I could change the system to launch the updater - but they have some disadvantages - if this becomes a major issue then I guess I'll need to go down these paths.
Sorry for the lateness, i didn't realize everyone would be in such desperate need of this fix. :lol:
Anyway, the reason this has become such a big deal is that xfire needs to be able to detect what program is running put the proper screen overlay for chat, video recording, and for other screenshot needs. Before, it didn't work at all for any of these since this newest update. So i decided to change the EXE xfire looks for to the one that is actually running when you are playing the game. (FLSP.exe) That is all i put it there for and those of us who post screenshots in our RP related posts dont need to go and use paintshop or anything else, just a quick key stroke and we have what we need. That is all i meant this fix to achieve for me, but decided to post it since everyone ends up needing it. There is no problem with how your doing it Cannon, as most of us launch Freelancer from a desktop shortcut of some kind anyway. Hence why your updating method should STILL work. This is just a fix for your fix.:P

Well it has been confirmed, i just finished talking to Cannon about his change for the updater. This Topic is no longer valid and i have edited the first post to make it say so, with instructions to undo your changes for xfire. Im glad all of you enjoyed the fix that i released while it lasted and at least now im known for something in this community.:PIll be sure to get more involved with this sorta stuff in the future. It wasn't that big of a deal anyway, 5 mins of fooling around, but i know it saved us all a lot of hassle while the beta is being tested. Unless there is further need seen by the admins, this topic can be locked.
