A notification would have been more professional than changing it to something pathetically stupid to amuse yourselves no?

For someone called "Frodo the Fluffy" you don't really act fluffy.

Try not to take things too seriously, this is a fanmade community for a 14 year old mod running on a 17 year old game. At this point in its lifecycle, much like any other internet community, this obscure little corner of the web is more of a friendly circlejerk than a "Professional Environment". The staff here are just volunteer community members who've agreed to do the grunt work so the rest of us can spend our time enjoying the game instead, and considering how thankless of a job that is, it's been the commonly accepted norm here that they're more than deserving of playing a little harmless joke every once in a while to amuse themselves if that helps delay the inevitable burnout. Though that said, having an embed link handy for a pre-made "follow signature guidelines" type of pic to c/p for any violations isn't really intended to be amusing anyways, it's just meant to be efficient - and it is.

If you don't appreciate your sig getting changed, solution is simple: Make sure your sig doesn't violate the forum rules, and then no one would ever change it.

Also, You did get notified - The notification just happened to be in your sig rather than your inbox. So, your sig getting changed is entirely on you, and let's not forget that it also added unnecessary workload to the already heavy workload of the staff, so to be honest, you're really in no position to be offended by them taking the efficient route of dealing with your rule violation, rather than wasting thrice the time and energy to also send you a second notification via PM when the whole thing could've been avoided entirely if you had just taken the time to, at the very least, skim through the community rules. If anything, the staff should be offended by you not appreciating all the effort they put into keeping this place clean and orderly.

tl;dr - Hi. Welcome to Discovery. Enjoy your stay but try not to take thing too seriously around here because that'd only lead to a miserable time not just for yourself but also anyone else unfortunate enough to be in your immediate vicinity. So just shrug it off, have a chuckle perhaps, and move on, and maybe in time you'll become a forum moderator yourself and will get to see firsthand how much of the free time you could've spent playing the game is instead being wasted on fixing people's oversized sigs.

If only you had taken time to read the rules, you might not be damaging your reputation by acting as an entitled kiddy.

What these two former admins above me said. (:

The chase I should be cutting to is that PMing is an additional workload that would normally be incurred when dealing with other sorts of matters that don't require the workload of editing a signature.

Just one question, are you specifically TRYING to run off the new player?

I ask because the condescension in the post, along with the shaming for having an dissenting opinion about something that looks specifically designed to BE shaming, is almost perfect for encouraging this person to "move along".

As to the "additional workload" comment, congratulations on telling the new customer that they don't matter enough to be courteous, or did you not notice that the OP account was made this month?

@"FrodoTheFluffy" - I don't mean to be rude, but let it go. You'll never win the argument. For what it is worth, welcome aboard, and I hope you get some enjoyment from being here.

Are you trying to virtue signal for brownie points or is this just to make yourself feel warm and fuzzy? I don't think Champ said anything particularly rude or condescending at all. He explained what the position is and laid out the facts. Why are you, a literal uninvolved busybody, finding your own excuse with which to interject? When two parties to a dispute are attempting to touch bases and try to establish mutual understanding, I'm sure the last thing they need is a third wheel.

I would also suggest you acquaint yourself with the actual definition of what a customer is and the requirements to be considered one, well that and curb your self importance of course.

It takes about 3 or 4 extra clicks and a Ctrl+X/Ctrl+V to PM somebody their old signature if you decide to nuke it because it broke the rules. At least this way they can salvage any URLs they had in the signature or some BBCode.

I'd be pretty angry too if somebody decides to nuke my signature right now and I lose the links I have in it.

First, singling me out as uninvolved because I am speaking out against the behavior of the DevMin team, of which multiple replied, is kinda sad considering all of the people that came down on top of a new player.

As to the definition of customer, someone that partakes of your services is a customer whether they pay for it or not, but let me give you a counter thought on a service relationship. How likely is that individual to become a paying customer when their first encounter with the management is a cascade of negative behavior?

As to mutual understanding, all I saw was a large quantity of people that berated a new player for expecting decent treatment.

As to my self importance, the only thing I consider here is my ongoing quixotic quest to encourage a better manner between the DevMins and the people they have volunteered to SUPPORT. There wouldn't be this sort of thread OVER and OVER if the DevMins didn't have a general attitude that sending a PM to explain their actions was wasting their time.

As to you, personally, you might want to consider your own "advice". You came charging in, made statements that are laughable in their partisanship, dropped unsupported arguments, created false dichotomies, and appealed to your own authority. I'd say I am doing you the courtesy of responding, but that implies that I value your opinion.

To summarize my answer to the gist of your post, as opposed to the content, my entire reason for posting is an attempt to get the DevMins to realize that slighting the customersplayers does not help their relationship building with those players.

I still can’t work out if this is serious or a a massive joke. You do know this forum is based on a game?

RE: I don't appreciate! - Alestone - 05-25-2020

The subject of the forum is a game, but the forum is based on human interaction which should, ideally, be civil.
