Hilda was an orphan tossed to the streets at an early age. At the age of 10, she was able to attend an accelerated learning program at the University of New Berlin, where she quickly caught up with her lost years of schooling. She was bullied heavily in school, but she remained optimistic and was able to often fight back. The teachers at her program understood her situation well, and often sympathized with her, as some of them were fellow orphans. They were the parents that she never had. She ended up maxing the program at the age of 15, and was able to head into college. She was able to take many classes from research grants, and had an advanced knowledge of almost all subjects put to her. Her memorization skills were excellent. At the age of 18, she met her future husband, Grant Weber, a mathematics major and a fellow orphan. They were later married when she turned 23 and when he was 25.

Hilda discovered her political views later in college, and realized how horrible the house governmental system was. She supported neutrality, which she found with the Zoners. With her then fiancé, Grant, she joined the Zoners as a freelancer. Once she got to know the workings of the Zoners, she decided to fully join their ranks as a Captain and Surveyor. She served with the Zoners on neutral research crews, escorts, trade convoys, and insurrections if necessary for approximately 2 years.

Through research opportunities, college, investment firms, trade shows, etc. Hilda slowly began to become great friends with the rest of the crew of the Principia XIV.
