The Nomad Lore - Linkus - 04-19-2009 Ah good to hear, some of the additions are nice alright. Congratulations to all those who worked on it and thank you, it really does help others to structure their stories and their ideas. I've got some questions in regards to the big boys up top though, including a proposal about an artifact of sorts. The Nomad Lore - Exile - 04-19-2009 If you have any suggestions, please relay them to me or Titan. Either via pm or skype. (My skype contact is : majordutchy. Titan's is Daermoth) The Nomad Lore - Inconcessus - 04-19-2009 I must say reading through this lore, even though I am still reading it put the Nomads into a new light. There are quite a lot of new things including Chris Todd's overview, most of that info isn't revealed during the campaign. Keep up the great job! Well *khm* I found some inconsistencies or conflicts even, in the Lore document and the -It looks like the- official back-story of the Slomon-K'Hara. For example the Mindhsare that is said to exist in the Lore document as an innate ability of the each of them but then the Cardamine which was left purposedly by their creators would serve no purpsoe. You say they were innate space farers who was born in zero-G environment but again the bacteria to terraform planets to live on would be for naught. Either the Daam-K'Vosh didn't know their own creation (!) or you have to think it through again. EDIT: Finished reading. The Nomad Lore - Titan - 04-20-2009 If anyone has anymore questions..again, PM myself or Exile, we'll respond as best as we can. You can also ask here in the thread if its a common question and not anything too specific and we'll try to answer for everyone. I urge everyone who's somehow connected to the nomads to read the lore, it can perhaps help you and broaden your views. The Nomad Lore - pieguy259 - 04-20-2009 The plural of "bacteria" is "bacteria" (it is a plural) and not "bacteriae". Also, Japanese correction: "Za Aoi Ichi" is a very literal translation of The Blue Ones. A more natural phrase would be "Aoi Hitotachi" ("the blue people"). Otherwise, nice work! The Nomad Lore - McNeo - 04-20-2009 This is a good read. Finished reading it in one go. I'll read it again later though. It leaves things like how pure nomads are born open though (unless I missed something...) so I think that still has some open-endedness to it. The Nomad Lore - Exile - 04-20-2009 Inconcessus : The Cardamine left by the Daam-K'Vosh is ment to enhance the Nomad's physical form. As for the planet part, cardamine grows itself. I'd suggest you look at Malta. It's just like any other plant. And the fact that it's on a planet doesn't stop the Nomads from getting to it. They may not like surroundings with gravity, but it wont make their brain fall through the floor either. And if you're wondering, ' how do the Nomads get the cardamine from Malta?' well, if you read the lore abit more, it shows that there are two planets which have it. But even then, I doubt it would be visited much due to the fact that Nomads don't have to 'use' it as often as the Humans addicted to it do, nor do they grow addicted to it. McNeo : Yes, that's one of the parts we're still working on but were unable to finish due to circumstances. The Nomad Lore - Guest - 04-20-2009 ...And I'm sure that there would be some fanatic Outcasts that would let them dock on Malta. <.< The Nomad Lore - Exile - 04-20-2009 ' Wrote:...And I'm sure that there would be some fanatic Outcasts that would let them dock on Malta. <.< Quote: ' how do the Nomads get the cardamine from Malta?' well, if you read the lore abit more, it shows that there are two planets which have it. In other words. They don't get it from Malta. But considdering the fact that Cardamine isn't a nescecary evil in the SK way of life, they don't have to get it period. The Nomad Lore - Igiss - 04-20-2009 Nice one. For the issue of making this canon. Unselie's known for overly critical attitude to things, but I think he represents opinion of fairly large amount of people. On the question of why, for example, RP developments of one faction should be considered as superior to all others. I don't believe there's such a thing as "canon" for us. The mod has a storyline that I write in the form of news and (sometimes) rumors. The world is large, however, and many factions/groups hardly ever get mentioned in those news. Interfering with internal affairs is also rare. From this point of view, the RP of various factions can all be considered part of Discovery lore (will avoid the world "canon" here) while the stories don't contradict each other and the official storylines. The news rarely mentioned Nomads (except for The Wild), since they are supposed to be separated from humanity, with the infested cleansed from populated planets after the war. Fighting the Nomads is no longer on the agenda, it hardly ever was. It makes sense that the Nomad developments remain unknown for the rest of humanity. If there will be any direct impact of the Nomads for the humans of Sirius, "official" story will reflect this. So, the concept posted here is in line with what we're doing. I see no reason to refuse it being part of our lore, and no reason to avoid using it for further official developments. If there are concerns about some particular parts of the document, voice them. |
