Other than "it isn't explicitly spelled out in the rules because I want the rules to be akin to real-world laws so I can try and identify and abuse loopholes like a real lawyer", is there a good reason to ever do this in the game? Does it add to anyone's fun? RE: Running into walls - Snowstorm - 07-24-2023 It's amazing how many people love to run into walls. RE: Running into walls - monmarfori - 07-24-2023 Just add it in the rules section. They have nowhere to go except to their inevitable death which will still be in PvP, still making them PvP dead for an hour, still "losing" the encounter. For what it's worth, I do agree with the sentiment and said the same when this came up: But I still don't think there is any purpose for this to ever be done except out of spite. Which makes me think it'd be best not to allow. I also wouldn't sanction someone over a first offence, but if someone made a habit out of it - likely along with other dubious behavior - I think it'd become a problem in my eyes. RE: Running into walls - Fab - 07-24-2023 don't waste time chasing ships out of disruptor range. it's a pig-chasing-carrot situation that can only be solved by: having a faster ship; being grouped with a faster ship with CDs; not chasing. alternatively, changes to CDs and CMs to make cruise running less viable would also solve the problem. increased cruise disrupted timer would also help again, solve things by gameplay and not by rules, mostly unwritten until it becomes public knowledge by someone getting sanctioned. We are. Honestly, as a playtester you know this. These things take time, though, especially if they're all bundled in a big patch. You'd not be doing it out of spite, then. You'd just be trying to get away. RE: Running into walls - Omi - 07-24-2023 People could also just stop pissing themselves stupid at the possibility of giving up a blue. Maybe then we'd have less people playing like it's the end of the world to wind up dead -- no more blatant shieldrunning in 1v1s, system wall running, and all the other fun stuff that that mentality entails. If you have no way to stop them then yes, they did in fact get away from the fight. The people insisting on following them to the system wall are doing so because they are unable to accept any outcome other than getting their blue message. |
