All of the ones in this 'special' range do, the AT, Repair Ship (transport or not?), and Heavy Lifter. For its size, logically it shouldn't, but then it would be even more ridiculously outclassed by the AT.

That Heavy Lifter might have a very big and old engine, one possibility for such small cargo hold in its size and slow turn rate.
Smaller vessels with new technology should be able to have more cargo hold than the big ones, there is nothing wrong with it.
I like it to have more variety than everything in order.
Statistically it is beaten in EVERY department by a ship a quarter of its size, not just a larger cargo, or weaponry, but EVERYTHING. This doesn't feel wrong to you at all? I could show you how the Mammoth, Percheron, Behemoth, and Bumblebee are also far smaller than the HL but have far better stats than it.

I like the ship, but it needs something special. I suggested armour, because this would give reason for its larger size, it is not a tradeship and so shouldn't have high cargo, and also give it more survivability and prolong some RP.

Mmm, the stats are a little silly, it'd be nice to see the Heavy Lifter get atleast an Armor upgrade, not necessarily too much cargo over the Armored Train though, lest we see Heavy Lifters used as trade ships >.x

Unless you're seriously saying that new vessels have magical cargo holds, I think my 200 year old barge will easily carry more cargo than your top of the line military fighter.

What are the prices of the Heavy Lifter and Armoured Transport? That might play into the equation. Cheaper freighters tend to have less features.

Heavy lifter - tazuras - 05-17-2009

Without equipment:

AT: 3.25 mill
HL: 2.8 mill

So the heavy lifter is a little cheaper, still think it would be nice if it had a little more armor. Makes sense too, cause it has to survive accidental engine discharges and potential crushing incidents by bigger ships.

@Lameos - Yeah, I sorta skimmed your first post, so I agree, little or no more cargo, just more armor.

About the towing idea. This would create total chaos, and you know it. Maybe if the towee could request the towing, but still, i dont see much of a point to this. If you really want to see them used make it so people cant use the /stuck command, only heavy lifters can use it on you

And no, I am not serious.

The Lifter is made to ferry goods from space to surface so it can get loaded onto the transports in space, it being that big does not make sense.

All it's good for is blowing it up and watching the two engines fly opposite directions, then trying to bump the engines into a tradelane or docking ring.

I call it Space soccer (Duh) and there should be an event where a lifter gets blown up and people have to get it into the lanes in Connecticut in Fleas.

Its size is vanilla so won't be changed/shouldn't be changed. Your space-soccer (football) does sound quite amusing though, I'd play.

And yes, the towing idea is somewhat silly, well, towing other people would be, what about towing the large debris/asteroids though? Say if it could only be done under impulse, and could be sold for large amounts at certain stations. It would give it some practical application.

We've been batting about the idea of giving it a purpose, like a smaller poor man's mining ship.

Other than that it's an RP vessel for the most part.

Heavy lifter - Grumblesaur - 05-17-2009

I'd say make it a regen carrier, maybe 1000, instead of the repair ship's 4000.

Meh, that wouldn't really be worth much in all honesty.
