The Rheinlander religion is mainly about obedience, loyalty, and screaming all around "HEIL GOTTKANZLER!", but certainly not about opposing anything that might help the Rheinland war machine. And the Outcasts worshipping the "spirits which guard our ancestors" certainly have no problems with technology either (and neither do they go above and beyond everything to protect their faith, unless somebody attacks the spirits).

The catholic Outcasts may be a little bit more problematic, but on the other hand, it might be a little bit hard for a mute OC to get a ship. The military is no option, as they'd most likely require you to use implants to fix your issue; they won't just give you a ship like that and wait 'till you shred it. If you have the cash, you probably could buy one, but I'd still say that a mute pilot wouldn't really be liked a lot by his comrades in arms.

Also, pretty much any ship would likely be able to transmit text messages as well, so...yeah.

I really don't see a problem whatsoever playing a mute character in the FL'er universe.

A mute's only disability is the lack of ability to speak, & the existence of the neural net minimizes that disability.
