Virage - tansytansey - 05-30-2009 I don't think I've seen anyone flying this ship - ever. Probably because it is underpowered, and most freelancer/mercs roleplay is to PvP, hence they use the more combat effective ships such as Sabre, Eagle and Ravens Talon. The people that want to use the Virage because its' the Virage can still do so, but they do so knowing they are sacrificing the combat effectiveness. I still see no reason for a buff. Buffing the Virage will make another ship become "underpowered" lets say the Eagle suddenly becomes underpowered because of the buff (unlikely, but this is an example) and so the Eagle pilots come storming to the forums demanding a buff also, to make their ship stronger. But by doing so, the Wrath now becomes the weakest VHF in the game. So the RM come storming in and demand a buff for their ship. Then the Werewolf becomes underpowered for all the Pirates demand a buff. Then we cycle back until every ship is twice as strong as it used to be, and once again the Virage is the underpowered ship. We just don't need it. The Virages' weakness is not detrimental to its' abilities, it is still a usable ship. And the proposed solution is certainly not something that would be unique to the Virage. An extra torp slot is that Werewolfs' defining feature, and is what makes it an excellent piracy ship, but at the great cost of massive size and low agility. If you want a torp slot then you're also gonna have to sacrifice your manoeuvrability, possibly even more than the Werewolf, since the Virage is a smaller model. Virage - Thexare - 05-30-2009 I'm not a balance expert, you can probably guess. I was just trying to throw ideas at a dartboard until something sticks. Virage - Benjamin - 05-30-2009 For precedent, the Bull Dog is about virage size and has a CD/T and CD slots, HF armour, HF guns (8/8/8/8/9/9) HF regens, and goddamn templar turning. Virage - Leadcrows - 05-30-2009 Virage is a fine ship, i've flown it for a big amount of time. It is great for training as its turning is very stable and it is easier to aim. The only real problem was it is too large, make it a little bit smaller and everything will be solved. |
