One little question - globalplayer-svk - 06-26-2009

so basically, all here agree with fact, that when you see nomad/phantom/wilde rp goes out of board and PvP is starting in its cleanest form...
nice to know.
next time someone attack gamma, i try to gather all available people and clean his home...(in gamme) so in future, please dont cry, taht you undocked from base in fighter, and first what you saw was 14 guns firing on you from my dread and another 150 other corsair guns...

admins, please lock this. i maked this to point at one point. That this is gamme, and it is maked to bring fun to all. Not to all except pvp whores....

One little question - Jinx - 06-26-2009

a little clear up ....

we are trying to keep the zoner vessels to a strict DEFENSE. - so - yes, zoners might pop quite some ships out there - but they shall stick to a role that they let the attacker choose the time to attack ( that is as far as we can play fair ) - so when there are 20 ships - don t attack.... soon there are less.

however it also means that you don t attack when there are only 2 ships and you have 10. - the keepers have the unique ability to really CHOOSE their numbers. - the defending forces have NOT, no matter what you do - unless you make it an event - in which case you can restrict the system temporarily to only specific ships. ( but thats reserved for "key" events )

delta is a hotspot that is very very hard to control for even the most ambitious faction leaders. - if all the faction were friendly to each other - it would be hard - but delta factions don t even like each other. - the BHG does not only need to look that they are not totally wasted by the keepers, they also need to make sure that they are not wiped out by the order or the corsairs. - so have the order players. - in the worst case .... they d have keepers AND the guild attack them.

you see - its not easy.

about the battleships and warships - we all know that it was preached for ages that "small ship = good RP" ... but honestly... if there are 3 battleships out there - i don t mind the keepers to take their 2 battleships out, too ( which are more powerful than the smaller ones ( mako / osiris ) due to their much more powerful weapons and their relativly greater firepower )

the point is - they can choose what fits best - the defenders cannot.

today we started out with quite a good force:

- 1 cruiser ( zoner )
- 2 bombers ( zoner )
- 1 gunboat ( zoner )

you d call that quite a reasonable force against
- 1 cruiser ( infested )
- 2 i don t know.... i guess morphs

certainly - the nomad force is weaker, but they can choose the time to attack - and probably got more pvp experience ( hypothetical )

only a few minutes later - we had 2 battleships, 20 fighters out there ( still quite a BALANCED fleet, btw. - haven t all the people ASKED battleships to come with a reasonable escort? )

key events will be happening in a controlled enviroment. - but random ambushes will not be controllable. - all the time, none of the factions made rediculous alliances to "gank" anyone else - ( so you had no hunters and order + corsairs rubbing shoulders ) - the very contrary - you had battles between those factions that can be exploited by the keepers ( only if not THAT many ships are involved of course )

sometimes there are too many - so the key is to wait till their number decrease - shouting at people is not the way to go - nor telling them to be "wrong", "unfair" or anything else.

that is what you get when you re playing on a DYNAMICAL server.

i have been around for over an hour today - and except for some taunts that were a bit "too much" for my liking. - the situation was OK.

One little question - hribek - 06-26-2009

Meh. Let's sum it up.

This is a complaint.

People shouldn't be massively overkilling the opposing side, because it isn't fun for anyone.

We who read these topics mostly know that.

And I agree with that.

But I also think complaint threads are not as good as PMs to the involved person(s) and optionally faction leader(s).

Howgh.

One little question - RockCrystal - 06-26-2009

You want fewer people against the Keepers? Fine, count me out.
During the whole fight today I was dividing my attention between getting off a few attacks, evading, and pleading with my 'allies' for bots and bats. Of course no one listened to me until it was too late.
Yes, the Zoner/Corsair/Order/BHG have the advantage of numbers, but the Nomads have superior pilots, superior equipment, and above all, TEAMWORK.
Meh, whatever. I'm out of it, don't care anymore.

One little question - globalplayer-svk - 06-26-2009

jinx, two things.
when are zoners defending, why reaven typed that nomads destroyed zoner carrier? camping iota is not defense, (but you can not force someone to stay near fp as defense. i know, only pointing.)

second is, there was more as 2 battleships...

Hribek, this is not complaining, this was just question from someone who like this game, and who dont like when group of individuals is destroying fun from this game for some people, and they still think how good they are.
When i will complain, i put names, but i am only asking ....

and last thing. saw someone who was in delta when this incident happened one, word of roleplay?... because i saw only death messages
(i dont count some // chats to someone who died or what before...)

One little question - Jinx - 06-26-2009

@global:

we re dealing with humans there - not bots.

it is a precious balance. - a keeper attack against a station that is not defended and majorly ignored is pointless . - about as much a RP impact as a falling tree in the woods when no one is around to hear it. - the other side of the coin is to make it a public event. - and the "problem" with public events is that they are public.

discovery is a public server - if we cannot deal with the public in most cases - we re wrong here. - as i said - for KEY events, i d expect a controlled enviroment ( like it was done for the corsairs and the rheinland military ) - but for public and "common" ambushes - both sides have to deal with whats there.

when you sit at FP11 - and there the 6th battleship poppping out - you cannot just start to shout at the player. - this is a HUMAN controlling the ship - and forcing them to leave is patronizing and utterly unfair. - all we can do is to rely on our popularity and / or faction tags.

surprisingly many players "listen" to guidence.

today - all the time i was around - we managed to hold the zoners back to a defensinve stance for over an hour. - that is keeping a fleet of zoner ships that can easily wipe out the incursion back - condemned to boredom, while other factions like the order or the BHG ( or the corsairs ) can have a go - if they like.

it does not feel too good when you have a player with a ship there who really wants to RP - and you have to tell him "no, you are defending, you should please not move to iota and wipe them out" at that time, you re not giving some AI order to a bot, you are asking a player. - and so it is understandable that a player might or might not just snap - or simply decide that its "reasonable to go hunting now".

not every player is content sitting at a freeport - waiting for the attack to happen - or not to happen. many players don t have much online time either - and the little time they have - they wanne spend in a way excitingly. - and for such players, its not really the best idea to have someone telling them that they "must not move out and chase an enemy that they might have enough reason to kill".

i do very much understand players that wish to chase the keepers - as much as i can understand the frustration of the attacking force. - the keepers do one attack and inflict damage in RP - and the whole zone is swarming for days.

it is up to every player that has the authority to "guide" his fellows if he cares. - the overwhelmed force is always kinda pissed. - on disco, you will never get a really balanced battle... .

keepers did what they could today ( while i was around ) - they talked and hid - and bided their time. that is the privilege of the attacker. - there have also been occasions when it wasn t so popular to defend fp11 - and there were more keepers than defenders. - in which case the defenders either played along ... or simply docked.

again - we cannot control everything as long as its public - and it would be unfair to tell people off for it. everyone is meant to roleplay on their own personal basis. - players are meant to RP their reason to be there and their motivations to defend or do other stuff in delta - and that is all we can ask them to do.

One little question - Exile - 06-27-2009

In the comming days there will naturaly be occasions when one of the sides in Delta will be massively outnumbered. There will also be days when the same side massively outnumbers the opposing side. But that's OK. I mean, we're staging something here. And staging what we are takes time, and actions like pvp. Be it to win or to lose, both are needed.

Vladimir, come talk to me on Skype when you can. I'll explain it all in detail. And, move this topic maybe?

One little question - Athenian - 06-27-2009

Topic moved

I see a lot of weird stuff in Delta too. It's that kind of place.

One little question - Ortog - 06-27-2009

I believe that you, the keepers/infested/nomad players disregard one crucial factor here. You are the enemy from what the nightmares are made of. I felt a shiver down my spine when I was out there, still alone, over Freeport 11 in the Determinance and suddenly I start reading nomad chat. I almost jumped of my chair!

Naturally who ever thinks in balance or fair numbers in that situation? Freeport 11 had been attacked the day before , they coming to finish it ; I made my last prayers, alerted the channels, all the ones I had access and prepared my self for a last stand...pure adrenalin, loved every second of it.

Balanced number never even crossed my mind. Its them, they coming, ALERT!
