NPCs - Varyag - 08-03-2009 Not only do I think they should be more numerous and nastier but I think that capital missions should be in more places. IE killing a liberty battle fleet in Rheinland or BH and rhein fleet missions for the hessians NPCs - Hawkwings - 08-03-2009 I would only support removing NPC scanning if players could scan smugglers and make stations and planets hostile to them. As it is, NPC scanning is woefully slow and doesn't accomplish its intended purpose. NPCs - Guadalupe - 08-03-2009 For restrained to hotspots: Make some changes, but most are ok. There are some changes necessary in systems like T23 and T37, which hve more player traffic than some of the house systems. Its not realistic that you cant cruise through them without being dirupted 3 times. T23 and T37 are examples where the player /ship traffic doenst match that of the way the vanilly SP was laid out. Im sure there are other examples. About scanning: It keeps people irp. The npcs behave in a rip way, and mess up the program of people who try to act oorp wit hcargo. Good thing. NPCs - FooFighter - 08-03-2009 ' Wrote:About scanning: I challenge this assumption. Unless you are green with the LPI, they will scan you. Now, imagine your character is a researcher authorized by Liberty to carry and ship artifacts aboard his ship for scientific purposes. No LPI player will ever bother you, well, they might ask you for your license but that's all. The NPCs however will still demand you to drop your cargo, and if you don't, they will attack you. Did the NPCs act in RP here? Also, it does not keep people iRP. It annoys them. When my Navy Guard char (who is only neutral to the LPI) is carrying confiscated contraband, NPCs ask me to drop it despite them having no authority to do so. In the hypothetical situation that I was a ooRP Zoner Guard powersmuggler trading Cardamine to Manhattan, the NPCs wouldn't do anything to stop me either - if they'd demand me to drop my stuff, I just quickly dock with the nearest station or TL and they won't bother me anymore. mwerte Wrote:I'd like for their CDs to be removed. I enjoy playing this game with other people, not the game engine and in my opinion Enjoyment =/= Realism. That would be awesome as well. Maybe let NPCs keep their CDs in guard systems, where they really should be an obstacle to intruders though. NPCs - Weedalot - 08-03-2009 thats too much, why dont we remove NPC all together than? I agree that they should act according to RP but not nerf them.. If you not suppose to be scanned by some NPC and you do (it should be fixed) but taking their CD and making them easy is not the answer. NPCs - Lenny Bruce - 08-04-2009 It is pretty insane when a bunch of Xenos in Starfleas or Hackers in Daggars try to stop a Train or larger class transport. They have no chance of sucsess, and only serve to annoy. NPC LFs patroling in their ZOI makes sense, but not lane disrupting or... Pirating that 5 units of scrap metal or oxygen I accidently tractored in? Beyond insane. No sense whatsoever. I think RP would be a lot easier w/o these distractions. NPCs - Taffic - 08-04-2009 No & No. Think the developers got it right. NPCs - Hawkwings - 08-04-2009 In-RP, an LPI officer is not going to go "Oh, that ship's carrying a full load of artifacts, let me check the registration." He's going to go "You there, stop and explain yourself!" And then you stop, explain you have a license, and move on. Now, as for your example, it's a very poor one. Exactly how many licensed researchers are there? And how many will there be in the future? And why exactly do researchers need max-size transports to move their cargo to manhattan? NPCs - FooFighter - 08-04-2009 ' Wrote:Now, as for your example, it's a very poor one. Exactly how many licensed researchers are there? And how many will there be in the future? And why exactly do researchers need max-size transports to move their cargo to manhattan? The problem is, NPCs don't just scan max size transports. They scan everybody, from a Starflea to a Barge. And if you have just 1 unit of "contraband" they'll demand it. The researcher was just an example, but I'm sure there are similar cases of this happening to people. Besides...as said, NPC scans do not stop anyone. They just annoy. And the people they annoy most are the ones that aren't smuggling, but the ones that are sitting in one location and RPing there. NPC scans do not add anything but annoyance to the game. So why annoy people and especially annoy people who have valid in-RP reasons not to be asked by the police to drop their stuff? You wouldn't put a traffic light somewhere in the middle of a highway (no crossings in sight) either despite it making no sense there, would you? NPCs - Altaris - 08-04-2009 I find it annoying... Im fighting vs Players and then sudenly NPCs arrive. In middle of space. Im for turning them off ... |
