And pirates will give you "2mrdai", traders will ignore demands for 500k and run or get blown up, dpending on how lucky they are.

As long as you don't break any rules and don't act like an ass, interdict away. Just make sure you know the exceptions.

Oh, and if anyone is wondering where the stuff on the embargo is written down:

You really need a thick skin if you like to do that kind of work, people acting like this will run across your way more often than you like.
But like i said, don't let them discourage you. If they don't stop, shoot them. If they stop and do what you like just continue your RP regardless if they are talking oorp or not.

Regarding the messages: The console command is'/setmsg <number> <message>' to send it just type '/1' to send it in local chat type '/l1'. If you want to check your messages, just enter '/showmsgs' into the console.

Another two things that come to mind, related to ZoI this time:

Is it reasonable for me to pursue someone into Bering? I don't mean all the way down the lane to the Freeport. Just in through the gate.

Navy vessels aren't allowed to demand contraband in New York. What should I do if someone jumps from Texas to NY with, say, engine components, military vehicles, or light arms from Rheinland?

One other question:

Should Rheinland h-fuel be stopped? It seems to me that it's as likely that fuel would be tampered with as it is that engine components and whatnot might be.

I think the Interdictor is great, he saved little Morrigan from two mean Outcasts determined to make her gamble and lose all her money!

Your navy iff in a gunboat, thats fine (and myself and a some other traders will acctually rp with you if you arent some lolwut combination) but I might suggest a bomber would work better, a lot of the heavy transportsners can blow up gunboats easily.

Ill also say this, if you do go to the jg prepare for a lot of flak, a LOT of smugglers think that people who camp jg/jh give them no chance (and it doesnt) and will react accordingly. You should camp houston or a bit into the trade lane into houston from bering for the best results.

So as other people said keep a thick skin up because a lot of the power grinders will take your stopping them quite badly, and its just the name of the game. When I first joined I pirated for a short bit and man people get furious. From cursing, threatening sanctions and all other sorts of behavior stopping traders/smugglers show you the worst the server has to offer.

Still, even though I am a smuggler, I do like to hear about none lolwut legal characters (maybe im just jaded from some stupid earlier today but oh well) though I must say Im gonna keep watch for you on my scanners now.

Good luck man!

edit for thurgretts questions

No you probably shouldnt chase people into either ny or bering. H-fuel I would ask a long time navy guy about that its a toughy.

0.4
The Liberty Navy reserves the right to:

-0.41
Inspect all cargo going through Bering and Hudson, regardless of ship class or affiliation.

That should answer your Bering question.

As to the contrabrand, I believe that just applies to things like Cardamine, Slaves etc,

Lastly, H-Fuel. As IND have a specific permit to transport it, anyone else should be fair game.

The Interdictor - Thurgret - 08-12-2009

I've certainly noticed that transports can give a gunboat a beating. The Liberty gunboat - or any gunboat with a forward gun - can do a respectable amount of damage from just outside of the range of a transport turret, mind. (forward gun stats are here: http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?title=Class_7_Guns) Bombers -are- better when kitted out specifically to stop/blow up transports, but folks tend to take them less seriously despite that. They're also in trouble if there's a fighter about.

Also, Houston is where I usually sit. I only go to the jump gates when I know someone is heading for them.

Seeing as some folks have tried similar things before - if there's anyone interested in giving it a go, send along a PM and we'll see if we can't work something out.

Double-post, but this has to be said.

There was a great deal less ooRP in the last vessel I stopped by force. Just one line:

Me: Cut your engines, you shall submit to a cargo scan.
Me: I repeat, cut your engines or you will be fired on.

(ship goes up tradelane, I follow, handy Rogue NPCs had cut it)

Me: You have been warned. All crew to stations! Mister Jacobs, you may fire when ready.
(some shooting, I dent the hull, other person appears not to notice I'm not destroying them. I waste 15 or so CDs)

Other person: wtf?

Boom.

Come on folks. RP it out decently and I might let you pass even with those mountains of engine components.

Then again, those 'folks' probably don't read the forum.

An idle aside to some others: I don't like PvP except in big fleet actions, 'cos they look cool. I don't -want- to PvP you.
