To Pirate or not to Pirate - Exile - 05-12-2007 I have a char that is called a "Freelance pirate", its an Corsair osiris. ~tauri~seras. but no, shes not used for pirating, yust fun. RP on it setteld as well. So, that would be good, right? To Pirate or not to Pirate - Fellow Hoodlum - 05-12-2007 Cay, relevance as always ... Hard to add anything that hasn't been said before. Capship fever is rife once again, and in the hands of those who have very little regard for the roleplay already in existance here, and what is happening on the forums. With the exeption of those who have posted already here. Exile in particular seems to be the only one who has made a valid case for his, and I suspect he sticks to his RP values concerning it. Hell, nothing better than blowing the bejesus out of a few NPCs with a big boy occasionally, pays the bills in some small way ... But pirate factions taking over the houses with BS incursions wouldn't happen. BSs are no good to a true pirate, he can use them for very little, especially for pirating ... Fighters and gunboats are the staples of this breed, they would waste little or no money on something they couldn't use for their particular trade. Those that have their own systems, would keep one for defence of the realm, not to lead hit and run missions, too damn big and unwieldy. Too vunerable to well flown GBs and bombers from defending forces ... And that will be happening in a system near you soon I suspect ... Bite back time is going to make them a BIG waste of money. Hoodlum To Pirate or not to Pirate - Lt.Cmdr.Olsav - 05-12-2007 Out of curiosity, will any rule stem from this, or is it just so that we can voice our collective dislike of freelance battleships in one place. Actually, i think Admin approval on anything bigger than a gunboat for factions or individuals is necessary but thats just me. To Pirate or not to Pirate - Alpha 429 - 05-12-2007 Well The man from Del Monte says: Get those unRP-ish "independant" BS's to f*ck. Quite simply the thought that a lone pirate can accumulate enough funds and all of a sudden find a crew for a BS is utterly ridiculous. No pirate should be flying a BS on their lonesome, pirate factions should be allowed one or 2 but they shouldnt be overdoing it either. As for "Freelance Battleships" well im always suspicious of those and until they post a half decent RP story explaining why a Freelancer could possibly afford/obtain a BS then suspicious i shall remain. Personally i would like to see a restriction on BS purchasing and restrict it to proper RP factions and even then set a limit on how many they can have. But then that would never work and some ppl who think that they know better would ignore it. At the very least we should make cap ships only available on their faction guard base, at least they would need to have semi respectable faction status to get it. To Pirate or not to Pirate - thekillerppodl - 05-12-2007 if the person is tagged and ID then he represents the fraction(npc) so he hasn't got the money the fraction (npc) has collected the fund to get a battleship To Pirate or not to Pirate - Malaclypse 666 - 05-12-2007 ' Wrote:if the person is tagged and ID then he represents the fraction(npc) so he hasn't got the money the fraction (npc) has collected the fund to get a battleship ..and the first time he goes to sleep, the crew will cut his throat, for usurping all their booty to buy a useless "status symbol". Maybe. Could happen. Great RP there, now.. Then, the "independent" crewmembers could turn on each other, and fight to see who gets the "status symbol", til only one remains, and then... History repeats itself. I claim royaties on the story if used!!! Mal To Pirate or not to Pirate - Lt.Cmdr.Olsav - 05-12-2007 Well i would like still like to reiterate my question, will the information discusses in this forum be implemented as law, or is this but a venting mechanism. To Pirate or not to Pirate - Exile - 05-12-2007 An idea of mine, may seem a little harsh. Every "freelance" and "suspicous" pirate battle ship should make an RP story, post it on the forums, else the owner gets fined. (Freelance as in, my Tauri, ans suspicous as in the BDR's kusari caps ) Opinions? To Pirate or not to Pirate - Spacewolf - 05-12-2007 the reason no one pirates is because the odds of them getting anything are below 10-1 why becasue you can ether have a nova or a train distruptor if you have the disruptor you carnt hurt there sheilds except after 5 or so passes if you have the nova you carnt stop them running To Pirate or not to Pirate - Nightfall - 05-12-2007 Exactly! That's why pirates hunt in packs, 2 fighters minimum, start making friends, more fun! |
