generic mercenary GB - Irra - 12-20-2009 It looks nice.. but if its "civillian" and not military or something like that then.. - high hitpoints : like 140.000 or more - low agility : like corsair / hathor gunboat - 500.000 energy ( as opposed to the usual 600.000 of other "large" gunboats ) - 1 forward gun - 6 turrets forward / out of those 3 backwards - 1 CM launcher - 1 CD launcher - 500 cargospace I think that will do fine.. or we will have everyone using them and clogging space. generic mercenary GB - Captain - 12-20-2009 keep it a heavy GB, but indeed one CM would be best as sead showed generic mercenary GB - gafiaiiu - 12-20-2009 Have to agree there, keep it heavy, I'm sick of light class ships for Generic groups. And its nice to have a choice when selecting a ship. generic mercenary GB - tansytansey - 12-20-2009 Maybe it's just me, but when I look at this model it feels like it's about the size of a cruiser... generic mercenary GB - NonSequitor - 12-20-2009 Kind of a "mission impossible" task really, considering some of the thoughts tossed about on this thread. A gb that factions would consider too substandard to use and yet good enough to attract a merc buyer. Good luck with that piece of marketing. The excellent design concept aside (it's gorgeous), I'm thinking that a generic gb should be smallish (5 turrets), fairly maneuverable with a 5.000.000 power plant. Turrets should be have generous firing arcs. Hull should be minimal. Cargo hold would be large enough to house cap 5 armor and a few prisoners. No front gun - those are the hallmark of house gbs (eh, with the exception of the BH Orca, of course). It would be nice for this gb to have some appealing strengths to it, in order to at least partially compensate for its weaknesses. Regardless of how this gb eventually morphs into - heavy or light. Or somewhere inbetween. No point in pre-nerfing it into oblivion - what self-respecting merc would want to fly around in a steel coffin? generic mercenary GB - Irra - 12-20-2009 ' Wrote:Kind of a "mission impossible" task really, considering some of the thoughts tossed about on this thread. I will consider that as a joke. I think we need vote .. agile and weak GB. Or BIG but not so strong... i am enough of those small gunboats mounting missiles and shooting... People would buy it just because they cant have factionized gunboats so i think its pretty nice idea. generic mercenary GB - NonSequitor - 12-20-2009 @Sead: I don't have a self-interest in this gb design, but I personally don't see much point in making a milk-soppy crate of epic fail for a group of professionals who are often involved in combat scenarios. The gb could be reasonably strong in one area but markedly lacking in another in order to balance the whole thing out. Personally, I'd go the cheaper, light-armored, medium-sized, reasonbly agile (not BH gs-agile) route. Maybe the 4.000.000 power plant is a better option, but I'd like to see a smaller ship profile to compensate for the lack of juice. generic mercenary GB - CCI45-px/Probe149 - 12-20-2009 Just a question: Is the Forward gun supposed to be like on any other GB's?`Or would you use that small box on the front for a static one, like the Siege Cruiser has? I would think that having a static FWG would add something else to this GB. generic mercenary GB - Linkus - 12-20-2009 Why not have two gunboats? One heavily armoured but slow etc. One lightly armoured but fast etc. The open market is different than a single groups shipline. It's open to all makers and buyers. generic mercenary GB - Jinx - 12-20-2009 @Megiddo: what he meant was just that gunboats range from 400.000 to 600.000 not from 4.000.000 to 6.000.000 ( just a technicality ) @argonaut: yes - the ledge at the front is meant to be used for the forward gun. - of course its questionable if it ought to be a real forward gun, a "gun" or something else. |
