Your top 5 games of the decade - swift - 01-01-2010

The best several games of the decade, judging by how awesome and revolutionary they were when they came out, or just plain awesome, are:

1. Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
2. Unreal Tournament
3. Neverwinter Nights 2
4. Dragon Age: Origins
5. Medieval 2: Total War
6. Deus Ex

But there's really at least 2 or 3 times this of absolutely amazing games, and it'd be a sin to try and cramp them all into one tiny list of 5.

Unreal Championship 2003 (The one for the XBox specifically)

Morrowind (And co. ... i.e. Bloodmoon/Tribunal)

Freelancer (And Disco)

Age of Mythology (And Titans)

Fallout 3 (And DLC)

Not necessarily in that order.

Dammit, I hate these limits you people are always imposing.

Well, my list would be, in no particular order,

-Freelancer (I blame Disco)
-WH 40k: Dawn of War (I <3 Tau, yay for Dark Crusade)
-Half-Life Two (Yes, I'm aware that One was better... Shaddup)
-Elder Scrolls Three: Morrowind (Sure, the game engine may be fail, but it's still fun)
-Fallout Two (Yeah, I know I'm off by two years, but that game was sheer awesome)

OH GAWD!

1. Battlefield 1942 - Honestly, the best freaking game I have ever played. And you know what? I still play it. Easily modifiable, maps which force teamplay and intelligence, a system of classes forcing teamplay and intelligence, gameplay involving strategy with FPS? The only way this game could be better is with that squad system of Battlefield 2.

2. Guild Wars - I'm sorry, but, I love this game. Even now, fun to go in and talk with people, even if they aren't particularly bright. Furthermore, an RPG which is more strategy than grind? You mean that I have to think about what I'm doing? And I don't get penalized for being a casual player and not grinding to get the most expensive stuff? And it's free minus box charge? Gawrsh, how can I resist.

3. Company of Heroes - The best strategy game I have ever played. Seriously, awesome. Intelligent AI, even! Dynamic maps, too. And a gameplay which forces me to micromanage and use my units to their full capability?

4. Morrowind - So...Much...Stuff...To...Do...So...Much...Awesome. I still haven't done everything apparently available (Haven't even delved into the expansions). And the realism? By jove, I think Bethesda did really well here. Much better than that shoddy Oblivion thing. Not to mention those mods which double the content.

5. Sid Meyer's Civilizations 3 - Haven't bought the newest one, but, this one is just pure :ylove:.

So I didn't put in Freelancer. Shoot me. It isn't that great.
