Activision of the two of them, im playing CoD MW2 right now, its a darn good game, and the only FPS from EA that i have ever enjoyed was Crysis, which wasnt quite as good as MW2.
Though the best FPS game ever IMO is Far Cry 2, which on its own is better than the entire CoD series in terms of sheer epicness, so third option for me.

If that's what you're looking for, why not Fallout 3? It was ten times better than the mediocrity that was FC2.
Crysis, too, though you have to follow a storyline.
