It's also no fun when you have no idea whether or not the lolwutters pew-pewing you are violating the rules.

People can guess all they want, but an opinion from a regular member doesn't mean a thing with regards to the rules of the server.

Xeno and OC weaponry? On the same ship? Hit me up with their names in private chum. I'll be looking closer....

Now the rant is clear I see.

Shouldn't we do something about this? Lets say more weapon/ships restrictions. (<- Guidance in the ID description) Because it's really pvpwhore'ish to find one of the strongest weapons around and just go around shoot people with them.
And I think the ID is just invisible, but just gives the other players an idea of who you really are even though they RP they just see your 'IFF'

The ID is there for confirmation to what people are affiliated with. Freelancer tag and a Pirate ID seems like a quite annoying combo, because you can't make out what they really are before it's too late:nyam:.

The vantage point is tipped over to the 'pirates' that have this combo from the other bad guys who are affiliated and having proper tags and IDs. The freelancer pirates can sit almost anonymously and unnoticed until something interesting happens to pass them by. Then they can start acting out from their Pirate ID, at a time it probably will be too late for the unknowing <insert bait> to avoid them. So I can understand why so many creates these types of characters.

It sounds a bit like the masked highwaymen from way past and I like that. But as pointed out by the original poster, solid roleplay is essential for these kinds of characters to make sense and not just be another kind of annoyance.

@ Warlord ... if you think there's an issue ... specifically with a rule violation (as this seems to be the case) ... then please post a rule violation report with admins. But PLEASE don't go trial-by-forum here. You've named the pirates here ... and you're throwing ALL of us Pirate ID'd/Freelancer IFF'd characters under the bus with them. I don't appreciated being generalized and stereotyped because you ran into one or two misfits.

Have you read ALL biographies on ALL characters on the forums? If not ... then don't go throwing accusations that someone's not role playing. There's another guy here in the forums that's advocating making it a requirement to have a bio on the forums to do this and that. And here's a prime example of how that idea will never work ... cause nobody's reading the bios ... and they're throwing down accusations like this one.

Also ... Warlord ... you said you've been here a while but keep quiet for the most part in the forums. Have you examined the tech limits chart? If so ... have you examined the official factions (asked their leaders, read their message dumps, etc) to determine whether these guys got permission to use the ships/equipment (if the ships/equipment are white on the chart)? Do some homework ... then if you think they are in violation ... report them.

@ All those complaining about pirates: If you think they've violated some rule, file a violation report and spare the rest of us the trial-by-forum.

far as i kno, using particular faction weaponry means that they would have to have the factions permission in order to mount it- do you know if htey have it applied for her eon the forums? and at any rate, they shouldnt have both xeno and OC on the same ship simply because they are conflicting techs.

according to the tech restrictions, whoever had the OC and Xeno weaps are clearly in violation.

i mean, come on. the tech usage is simple for indp players-
you cant combine conflicting factions techs, and in order to use "owned" technology without that factions id, you need permission. its as simple as that.

for the record, the tech cell sheet has nothing to do with rep allignment. but if some one doesnt follow up on who's asking permissions, then so be it.

all in all, report the xeno OC weapon guy for sure.

For the most part I agree with Baltar, if you thought there was a big problem with their loadouts which is what it seems you were unhappy about the wisest solution would be to file a report and allow the admins a chance to determine if it was really out of place. Otherwise, this is just making more people angry. Everyone now thinks Indie characters (especially pirates) are absolutely the worst because all we hear about are the bad experiences everyone has with them.

' Wrote:*Large amount of points made*

Well, what in-Rp reason could anyone have to mount OC and Xeno weapons on the same ship, other than the PvP advantage? While your points are valid, in this circumstance they wouldn't really apply.

@Warlord: So, you're complaining about a lack of RP after having a conversation that was that long? Yes, they did make a ridiculous demand, but you still hung around long enough for them to come up with a reason to engage you. Even though those guys were fairly, ah, not intelligent, there are players who are much, much worse. As in the '"two mil or dai" and engage you three seconds later because you didn't pay and then are promptly destroyed by the stationary battleship'-types.

Do you even think it's possible to read all bio's and stories, as well as all weapon permissions. Of course not, yes I do know plenty of people but not all by far. Do you?

You say I've mentioned the pirates, where? The reason I censored their names is to prevent the 'anti-kudos' from happening. And I've even made that part 'bold' ->most of<- the Freelancer Pirate ID'd players I've run into recently are a pain. It was not my intention to make all Pirate ID'd players look bad, and If I did then my apologies for that.

I'm not giving anyone a trial-by-forum as their names are blocked. Reason why I wanted to post this up is because I think there has to be more guide lines in the Pirate ID on load out. Otherwise you'll get more and more of these people.

Also the reason I sticked around them was because I like to have discussions. Should I just go ignore everybody that talks to me? I'm in-game to role play around, thats what I did with them. I just was amazed by the part where they mentioned my ID and where they didn't had any ground to attack me nor to tax me 4 million, and knew I wouldn't pay so they had a reason to engage me.

I just wanted to hear people's opinions about the ID, not those pirates their a example.

Once again, my apologies if I made you upset. Kudos to those Pirate ID'd players around that do know how it's done.

if all you intended was to discuss the pirate id freelancers, when why did you bother pointing out their tech choices which really are compleatly in violation of the tech usage guidelines?
