Red Hessian "Vidar" Cruiser (renamed to Cruiser) - Prysin - 01-19-2010 Vidar is overpowered..... missiles stronger then a basic BS one, dual light mortar, and regen good enough to mount all cerbs and smile Red Hessian "Vidar" Cruiser (renamed to Cruiser) - Vladimir - 01-19-2010 Dealing with lone or escortless or at least missing really good escort Legate can be easy with Vidars and/or bombers, that's true, but if legate's captain is good and/or there are some fighters around to harass bombers things start to go messy. Legate can very easily evade those LM shots if used right, it has more hitpoints than 3 Vidars and this RH cruiser missile turret is eating a damn lot of powerplant for the same range as basic cruiser missiles. Add the overall problems with using missiles related with bugs, low speed and being able to shot down and you will get one thing - big problems with fighting an open battle usually coming to a stalemate with legate chasing the vidars. And as long as inRP legates dont go far from gamma without good escorts and if they do they are good and, for example, omega-47 is very important for RH while close to corsair space while lacking tons of asteroids... Things start to actually look bad. By the way, look at the Praefect info on wiki: In the recent decades more ships of this type were built to counter capital ships of Corsairs' enemies, mainly the Red Hessians. .... ...and deployed to the Omega systems to defend against a handful of Red Hessian warships that had begun harassing Corsair bases in the region. You see, conflict is escalating more and more while both sides are creating bigger warships. It's okay for Hessies to invent their own slower as they are smaller then Corsies but they are not weaker than, let's say, Lane Hackers who has battleships (tho very rare ones but for a long time) and are growing in power. Tl;dr - inRP it was quite okay for RH to be using only small ships and relay on agility in the past but as long as there are plans for any expansion or holding the ground while having engeneers, shipyard, resources and so on and fighting someone with acess to drednaughts - like, you know, in war with Corsairs - bigger ships are being invented and made. And please, lets discuss this particular model, not the "balance" or actual stats. It's not like that it is we who make the decisions of adding ships or changing stats anyway. Things start to actually look bad. Just to clear things up - I fly a Vidar and have extensive experience as a pilot of large cap ships. Ultimately, if the devs and community say the RH get get their own BC or BS, it's fine by me. I just wanted to point out that going bigger isn't always the best answer. The Corsair BS (like the mod's other large BSes) is a chunk of inertia. Even a good pilot will be pressed to survive against 2-3 cruisers. Maybe the wiser tactic against a cap-heavy enemy is a mixed fleet of cruisers, bombers and fighters. My comments are pertinent to this new model. At least I like to think so. The model's creator asked for constructive feedback. There's a lot I like in his model, but it also has it's flaws. Just like anyone's else's work. I would encourage him to help the Vidar shed its Star Wars import look in favor of something more suiting to the Red Hessians. Red Hessian "Vidar" Cruiser (renamed to Cruiser) - Prysin - 01-19-2010 RH cruiser missile turret is eating a damn lot of powerplant for the same range as basic cruiser missiles. Cruiser missiles is having THE longest weapon range of ALL ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Indeed, Rheinland is getting stronger by the day, and looking less and less voulnerable every day. The sairs build bigger and bigger and id say a high armour BC would be the best bet. Maybe it could be a cooperation project between the Outcasts and Hessians (since its looking like a merge between a shrinked Ranseur and Rheinland BS). Hessians is large, strong and resourceful enough to make a FEW battlecruisers. Id propose the following stats as an example; (norse name) Hessian Battlecruiser Descriptions; For years the Hessians fought hard and brave against the Rheinland Military, the Corsairs and the Bounty Hunters. Their ship and combat philosophy had served them well so far, but with the RM increasing in strenght and the increase in Corsair capitalship attacks, they had to rethink their strategy. The Outcasts was working with some new experimental Singularity power cores for a secret cruiser project. The Hessians immediatly showed interrest and they helped found the expensive and dangeorus research and development. The resulting product were a small but almost unimaginable powerful powercore, fitted into a new battlecruiser the hessians had been working on. Same stuff on it.. same hull , same core, same weapons slots and so on.. ? Red Hessian "Vidar" Cruiser (renamed to Cruiser) - farmerman - 01-19-2010 I agree with that last comment. Hessian's Cruiser (and the RPC) need replaced more than they need a new ship. Red Hessian "Vidar" Cruiser (renamed to Cruiser) - Linkus - 01-19-2010 Just replace the old Vidar model please. The current one is an import from starwars that makes me sad face when I see it:( Red Hessian "Vidar" Cruiser (renamed to Cruiser) - Vladimir - 01-19-2010 Uh, there are two things about current Vidar model. First, it looks nice, even if that's an import. Second, it looks like improved Rheinland Pirate Cruiser which is great. There are not much RPC around, that's true, but this is still a point. Replacing this model would require removal or replacing of RPC model in terms of RP. On the other hand, this new model could be called, like, Vidar mk2 and infoed as being based on more of a mix of Rheinland and Outcast design instead of outdated RPC, but... why? Red Hessian "Vidar" Cruiser (renamed to Cruiser) - Corsair - 01-19-2010 It looks like a Bismarck and a Ranseur moshed together. Call it the.. Biseur Ransmarck Flying, slightly-rounded brick Red Hessian "Vidar" Cruiser (renamed to Cruiser) - waddoff - 01-20-2010 I have to quetion the Red Hessians need for a battlecruiser... when you're going up against the heaviest battleship in the game, you're effectively trying to bring down a mountain. Now, that doesn't work so well when you charge at it head on. Two Vidars could do the job of two Battlecruisers easily enough, with less casualties on their own side. Aside from that, I couldn't really comment on the model unless you showed higher resolution versions of the model. They just look like blobs from here. |
