Except it has three guns and is a LF... Also, how is a Mercenary supposed to get one?

Well, I possess none. J just tested them out. And with it's 3 guns... it's better than most of the fighters around:)

I know exactly how to get a Nomad fighter, but I don't really like them, and i'm not sure Mercenaries are allowed to use them.

Its not GETTING the fighter thats the problem, its acquiring a valid RP reason to use it they're talking about.

Personally, I read the infocards, and fly the ship. If I don't like it, I get a different one, simple as that:D

On all fighter's it tells you optimal weapon level this is a power related number.ie if it says max 10 optimal 8 not much power but max 10 optimal 9 means more power. Stay away from fighter's that say 8 optimal. Not exact but a good way to limit number of ships you need to test.

Also, there is the fact that each ship has an invisible (in this mod and Vanilla) equipment point for the powerplant. That means that, in theory, there could be several ships that use the same powerplant, and if Igiss ever decided to put it in*, the possibility of changing them. With that possibility, the power ratings would no longer be tied to the ships directly.
*Please don't ever put this in. It would make things almost impossible to balance, as people would probably try to put a battleship powerplant on a VHF, which would be a disaster waiting to happen. Of course, chances are, this is exactly the reason we don't have changable powerplants.

PS: This could open up a possibility for some nasty punishments for rulebreakers. Imagine giving a battleship the powerplant from a starflier, replacable only by the admins. They could even RP it as sabotage...
Kinda replyin to Knucklehead a little late...

To Knucklehead

Yes, re-editing the infocards to include power output is possible, but would take hours, and hours to do. As far as a limit, there is none. An Infocard can be 1 million lines if necissary, but there is no limit (Correction, limit may be 65,535 lines, or somewhere near that)

As far as inter-changable power plants, THAT IS A BIG NO-NO:nono:. Power Plants, unlike most equipment, cannot be restricted to certain ships. 2 mods, That I know of, had interchangable power plants; FreeWorlds** and Tekagi's Treasure** . Both I've seen thousands of times players mounting uber power plants on light fighters with weapons that should not be able to be mounted. I remember in FreeWorlds** that people would buy a capship (Cheap one, of course) and then buy a fighter just for the cap power plant. Just a huge no-no, and would make it nearly impossable to balance the mod.

** If the Server Admins have a problem with me metioning these 2 mods, I have no problem with them editing my post to black them out. I would 100% understand why also.

To stay on topic, For now, unless you use a 3rd party program such as DS, you cant really see the outputs right now. (Please dont use programs such as DS, or anything of the sort. They ruin gameplay.). My best advice to give ya is to either try it out yourself in Single Player (To test the ship and everything without losing your credits in multiplayer), or to ask someone who has already flown the ship.

Maybe we could have some additional variables on the fighter infocards such as agility, powerplant and strafing capability. And scale them over 10 IE. I am not sure whether it sounds a good idea or not, but it could be helpful for the ppl who are in a hesitation to find the most proper ship for them.
