New People - BULLDOGNK - 08-31-2007 ' Wrote:I've seen this done before: Why don't we mod in a big billboard sitting outside of Manhattan with the forum URL and a list of the rules. That way it's impossible to miss. Yes you have seen that on void, and it looks totally rubbish, Cayliths Idea is the best one cheers New People - Doom - 08-31-2007 Hell i would even go so far and make new hard point so that i can mount rules on my ship..(so they don't get lost when my ship is destroyed)... New People - I_m_rdy - 08-31-2007 We could also make it that an Admin who is online test someone's knowledge of the rules and this all of a sudden ("answer or get sanctioned!":D). This would make me carry the rules always around and reading them everytime I do a long and boring flight (e.g. trading). New People - alance - 08-31-2007 ' Wrote:A set of rules in every new ship is a good way to put the rules in their face. That way, they cannot say they didn't know where they were. I'd even go so far as to up the punishments if they get the rules but refuse to read them. Ignorance is no excuse.Passwording, in my opinion, is exactly the ticket needed if you want to reduce the noise in the signal. Seems to me the folks that would get discouraged/annoyed/impatient with having to go to the forums for a password are those same people who would not respect the RP nature of this server. New People - bluntpencil2001 - 08-31-2007 To be honest, I wouldn't have originally come here if there was a password lock... New People - Smiley_ - 08-31-2007 I would have to say that the best way to settle this problem is to have everyone in the community do their part in keeping an eye out for violaters. The admins, as skilled as they are, are only a few people. Caylith is right, we report the rule breakers to the admins, rather than waiting for an admin to sort it out on their own. I am sure that they would appreciate any help given. New People - will ritson - 08-31-2007 Lets just say me and Mr.3ppozz ran into them in our xenos fighters.(we kepted killing them as they kept reneging must of got about 10 kills of all 3 of them:P) Mr.3ppozz got 6 SS i think he said. Billy New People - Dopamino - 08-31-2007 i'd rather have a password and have fewer people on the server than have as many rule-breaking noobies as we do now. just add to the server description "server password is found in the rules section of the discovery community, at www.url.com/rules" New People - Equinox - 08-31-2007 Lets just make it so the rules are not so tucked away out of site, a link to the rules at the top of the forum in biggish writing should do the trick. I dont no what the message says in game but it could be something like, To keep your chars you MUST register on our forum [link] there you will find the rules, you MUST read them before logging back in agane. Ya no something like that? New People - uspatriotsf - 08-31-2007 All very good ideas, except the password. I think that would turn alot of people off. Something does however have to be done. We are getting a very large flux of new players lately and the majority of them do not know the rules and a minority of them have no desire of learning them. I for one do not feel as if the latter are an asset to the community, but rather a liabilty to it. I think the best option is to place an entire copy of the rules in each new hold and maybe somehow make it unremovable so that you cant just sell it right off the bat. Otherswise lets face it a lot of people are just going to discount it and remove it. Also I still strongly advocate that the rules be made much more visible on the forums themselves. Give them no excuses to have not seen them. |
